Indian Institute of Technology (Patna) was established in the year 2008 under Government of India. Mr. G. Madhava Nair is the present Chairman of the institute while Mr. Anil K. Bhowmick is the Director. The institute has an strength of more than 450 students. The institute has an urban campus spreaded in the area of approximatley 600 acres. This autonomous institute was established with the aim of providing education and research facilities to students in the field of Science, Engineering and Technology. The foundation stone for the permanent campus of the institute in Bihta, was laid by Union HRD Minister, Kapil Sibbal. Geology is the study of the physical structure of the earth while seismology is the study of the elastic waves propagated through earth. Seismology is considered as the sub discipline of Geology. Geologists study about the rocks and minerals exists on the earth crust. They also study about the physical processes happening inside the earth crust.
