Central Board For Workers Education was started in the year 1958 as an autonomous body. The board was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The board performs all its functions under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. The board conducts various training programmes at various levels for achieiving its objectives. Educating rural workers in protecting and promoting their social interests, is one of the prime objective of the board. This project was officially launched on October 8, 2011by Human Resource Development minister Kapil Sibal.
