High Court of Madhya Pradesh is authorized by Consitution of India. The court was established in the year 1936 and it is located at Jabalpur. Initially, the court was established with the name of Nagpur High Court in the year 1936 under Government of India Act, 1935. But later on, the court was moved to Jabalpur and hence its got its present name. The strength of the sanctioned judge of the court is 42. Mr. Syed Rafat Alam is the present Cheif Justice of the court. The court has two permanent benches at Indore and Gwalior. Mr. M. Hidayatullah was the first Chief Justice of the court after it got its present name i.e. High Court of Madhya Pradesh.
