Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai
Topiwala National Medical College was founded in 1921 i.e., even before independence of India. Since then, after affiliation the college has progressed in leaps and bounds. It can provide 25 different medical courses in different branches with almost 9 super speciality branches amongst them. It has almost 250 teaching staff with 400 physicians.
Infrastructure
This College aims at fulfilling all the basic needs of a student like proper classrooms as well a central library along with common rooms with a canteen. There are round the year cultural musical as well as arts and sports related events to satiate extracurricular needs. The gymkhana is more than sufficient for all the fitness freaks in the campus. Hostel facilities are available off campus near HAJI ALI which also has a sprawling lawn for long walks and fresh air.
Courses Offered
Undergraduate courses like MBBS, Bachelor of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and diploma in nursing and audio speech language pathology are provided here. Also several post graduate courses in General Medicine, Paediatrics, Skin & V.D., T.B. & V.D., Pathology Pharmacology, Anaesthesiology, Forensic Medicine General Surgery, Orthopaedics, E.N.T., Ophthalmology, Anatomy are also provided. Post graduate diploma courses in skin, radiology, psychiatry, anaesthesia, PSM, Forensic and diabetology as well as pathology is provided too. Super speciality degree courses are provided in Cardiology, Cardiac-Surgery, Neuro-Surgery, Urology, Plastic surgery, Paediatric Surgery. Besides courses of post graduation in allied branches are provided too.
Admission Procedure
The admission criteria will be the marks obtained in the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET). No foreigners are allowed to contest and the previous procedure on merit basis has been cancelled completely.
Placements
Most medicos opt for specialisation after completing their graduation and then are accepted as trained physicians to serve the country in the future. Many have even joined other hospitals as a part of their competent staff.
