Biochemistry is one of the best areas in the present time to study and to be explored; the subject is based on the study of chemical processes in the living body.  It is also called biological chemistry. The field is transforming day by day and it is making revolution in health sciences.

Which Pattern is followed? :

The paper of Biochemistry-A is of 6 major questions and all are compulsory to attempt. There is no substitute for any of the question. There are total 6 questions in the paper. Apart from question no. 1, every question is of same marks. 1st question is a single question whereas remaining question is with 2 sub-questions in it for the ease of students.  Mainly, questions asked are of short notes, description type etc.

Questions asked in the paper regularly are such as Metabolic pathways for breakdown of carbohydrates glycolytic pathway, photosynthesis, electron transport chain, citric acid cycle, pentose phosphate pathway, glycolytic pathway, Catabolism of amino acids, Beta oxidation and omega oxidation of fatty acids, Lucien, Glutamic acid and Arginine, Beta oxidation and omega oxidation of fatty acids, pyrimidine degradation, Glycogenic amino acids, glycogenolysis, glycogenesis etc.

Tips for the preparation:

The paper is a purely subjective paper. So, a notes of the whole syllabus should be very handy to memorise and revision purpose. Some questions in the paper are repeated in each year’s paper, those questions should be revising properly. Every question should be practised by writing prior to the examination.

Marks Allotted:

The paper has got a total of 50 marks in it.

Time Span:

The paper has got a time limitation of 3 hours only.
