Eligibility for IPS exam
You must be 21 years (minimum) and 30 years (maximum) at the time of taking exam. SC/ST/OBC and ex-servicemen are given exemption of 3 to 5 years in maximum age limit. People belonging to general category can appear for IPS exam four times, while OBCs can appear for seven times but no limit has been set for SC/ST. keep in mind, even appearing in just exam is counted as an attempt. You also need to meet physical standards mentioned in application form. |

To make career in civil services (IAS,IPS etc), you need to do routine hardwork from the very begining. -After 12th you have to go for graduation in any stream. -Try to stay healthy especially your eye sight should not be weak (as one can be termed medically unfit in the medical checkup by the team of experts) -Focus on GK and GS more, and be in touch with current affairs. |

Re: How to study for IPS exam after 12th? Which books to be referred?
hi
Books for IPS Civil Service Examinations like IAS, IPS and IFS are conducted by Union Public Service Commission for different jobs in the Government organizations of the country. Civil Services comprises of 23 different services of the Indian Government and the Union Territories. Among the 23 different services, Indian Police Service, Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Foreign Service are the most aspired services. Successful completion of IPS examination is regarded as prestigious since a number of candidates compete for a limited number of posts and getting through the examination is tough to a certain extent. The IPS preliminary examination is conducted in two papers, they are general studies and the second paper is optional subject, which includes subjects like zoology, statistics, sociology, public administration, psychology, political science, physics, philosophy, medical science, etc… So, for preparing for the IPS examination the books given below will be of great use to the candidates: You too can become an I.P.S. Officer: This book was published during 2008 by the I.P.S. Officer C. Sylendra Babu. In this book, he has given the tips for candidates regarding the right approach to prepare for the I.P.S. Examination. The online price of this book is Rs.70 and the candidates can purchase this book online from the following link: http://www.surabooks.com/ProductDisplay.asp?RefID=81. In the case of general studies papers the candidates must keep themselves updated regarding the current affairs in all the fields. For general knowledge the candidates can refer to the book called ‘general knowledge refresher written by O.P. Khanna. For this paper, the candidates can also refer to the NCERT books of class 11 and 12 and the candidates can download these books free of cost from the following link: http://www.civilserviceindia.com/subject/General-Studies/free-books/index.html. For general studies paper, the candidates can also go through the competition success review magazine, where there will be previous year papers as well. This will be useful for the candidates to get through the IPS examination. BEST OF LUCK |

Hi friend……
You have decided to appear for civil service exam after your graduation, you have got sufficient time to prepare for it.First of all you should be aware of all the stages of the selection process. The very first stage is the civil service aptitude test-CSAT, which is based on general studies, comprehension, interpersonal skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision making and problem solving and general mental ability. Therefore, to crack this stage, you should have a strong foundation in English grammar & vocabulary. You must practice questions related to word problems and graphical representation. Statistical questions will be mostly based on bar graph, pie chart etc. Questions will be also based on series, probability.Apart from these area, you must focus on general studies where questions will be based on history of freedom movement, important personalities of India and their achievements, geography of India, Indian constitution, political system of India, panchayati raj, science and technology etc. Besides general studies, for all other subject area of the CSAT, you may study the books available for preparation of banks and railway exams. Such books deals in logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision making and problem solving and general mental ability. Now after qualifying CSAT, you will move on to the main exam which comprise of english, essay, one indian language, general studies and optional subjects. While pursuing your bachelors program, you should select your optional subject for the main exam of civil service. To prepare for the main exam, you may follow previous years question papers. According to experts and successful candidates of civil service exam, study material of IGNOU is very helpful because of its updated syllabus and easy to understand language. All the best…. |
