Hi, I have done graduation in B.Com. (Hons) and later MBA in Human Resource Development. Can I apply for UGC NET with Commerce as subject? I wish to go for lecturership in Commerce in future.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted twice in a year by UGC.

The candidate who have completed masters degree from a recognised University are eligible for NET exam. General and OBC candidates should hold 55% and above marks in masters degree. For SC/ ST candidate its hold 50% above in masters degree.

Age criteria for NET exam:-

For JRF post:- Your age should be below 28 years .
For Lecturership post:- There is no age criteria.

If you have UGC NET degree then you can apply for PhD course and also you can apply for Lecturership post in any government college.

The basic eligibility criteria required to apply for UGC NET in Commerce is given below,

Name of the Examination - UGC NET Commerce

>> In order to be eligible, candidates must have completed Master's Degree in Commerce subject. This Examination is held for candidates who wanted make the career as professor or JRF.

>> As far as my best knowledge is concerned, you may not be eligible with MBA in HR Qualification as the Master's Degree in Commerce is required.

>> Hence, you will be eligible to apply for the UGC Subject in which you have done your Master's Degree.

Can I apply for UGC NET in Commerce if I have done MBA in HR?

As per the UGC NET Commerce Exam, candidates should have completed their post-graduation in Commerce, Business Services, Economics, Accountancy, or other subjects related to Commerce with securing at least 55% in his/her post-graduation. There is a 5% percentage relaxation for ST/SC/OBC/PWD.

Yes, an MBA candidate can sit for the UGC NET exam. You can apply for the NET exam if you have already earned your MBA or are in your final year. You might choose a NET subject that is connected to your post-graduate studies.
