Can anyone join the open university who is keenly interested in studies but has an age nearly 40 or above????

there is no maximum age limit for studying in open university.but there is a minimum age limit of 16 years.

and since you are asking about the age of 40 or above then you can surely join the university.

Open University is the University which gives the free of education to every individual.
So yes you can study anything from the Open University anytime as there are no age bars imposed in that.


IGNOU - Indira Gandhi National Open University is the Largest University in India and it is also the Open University which has huge number of students graduating and post graduating every year.

Now there are certain limitations that you have to keep in mind while you choose what you want to study.


1. If you are a Science student, then you can study any course related to the arts and commerce also, but not vice versa.

2. If you are not a graduate, you cannot study post graduate or research level programs.

3. You have to follow the courses regularly, or else you would not be given the degree.

4. You might also have to attend regular labs and other classes also.



But yes, you can study at the age of 40 also. Many people do go for MBA courses late in their lives.

There is no maximum age limit for an individual to join an open university.But the minimum age is 16 years as before that a child is in a process of learning where a regular schooling is necessary for HIM.But after that HE is an adult & can learn through the process of Distance education.
