I am in 11th and have opted for computer instead of english. Please let me know if english is compulsary to persue bca after 12th?

BCA Stands for bachelor in computer education. It is a graduation course and it's one of the popular degree course now a days being computer a must for the present era.

BCA eligibility and admission process differs from College to college, but in general the requirements and general qualification criteria is as under -

1. Minimum 12th standard pass with all compulsory subject.
2. Cut off varies as per college.

If you do not have English as one of your core subject in class 12th then also you are eligible for the degree course of BCA, but you have to make sure you clear the cut off of the college to which you are applying.

English is not compulsory to pursue BCA course. Basic eligibility for BCA is a pass (10+2) in any stream with mathematics and english as a main subjects. Some institutes also prefer students from science stream studied mathematics and computer science subjects. Most institutes offer the BCA admission based on entrance exam conducted by respective university.

Let me tell you that English is a compulsory subject irrespective of the stream you have opted for in your 11th standard. And you are saying that you have opted for computer science instead of English that is not possible. But still English is a compulsory subject to study in your 11th and 12th standard if you want to pursue Bachelor of Computer Application after completion of your 11th standard.

One who has to pursue Bachelor of Computer Application 3 year degree course must have completed 11th and 12th standard with science stream having English and mathematics as compulsory subject.
