The pattern for GATE exam is totally objective and the syllabus is also whatever you learn through your graduation course means in your engineering. How to prepare for this exam : *Follow standard book for these GATE exam. *Try prepareing notes while reading any chapter or topic. *Remember that GATE is totally objective exam so give your time to solve objective problem with tricks. *Solve previous year paper to see the pattern of exam.

The GATE examination consists of a single paper with objective type questions only. The duration of the exam is 3 hours. Like any other branch, the syllabus for ECE branch also includes the sections of General Aptitude and Engineering Mathematics. The topics included from ECE course are Electronic Devices, Networks, Control Systems, Signals and Systems, Electromagnetics, Analog Circuits, Communications, and Digital circuits. For better preparation, refer standard books for GATE exam and solve previous year question papers.
