ACIO exam is to recruit Assistant Central Intelligence Officer in IB which stands for Intelligence Bureau. IB is world's oldest intelligence agency created by the British Empire during their regime in India.

At that moment the responsibility of Intelligence Bureau was to monitor Russian forces and British feared as invasion. After independence IB came under Home Ministry and started focusing on India's security from Pakistan and China.

However the agency failed misrebly to provide intel about Pakistan and China war in the 60s which lead to a decision that it should be given job to collect internal intelligence while a new agency should be formed for gathering external intelligence.

Today IB works to collect any intel on the terror organization active in India. It uses wide range of methods to gather information like tracing calls and emails or using network of informants on the ground.

The collected information is passed on to the concerned department. For example is IB receives intel of possible terror attack on Mumbai, it would forward the information to Home Affairs Ministry of Maharashtra and Mumbai Police Force.


Eligibility

To appear in ACIO exam you must be Indian Citizen

Age limit for General candidates is 27 years.

OBC - 30 years

SC/ST - 33 years

You must have graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university in India to appear in ACIO entrance exam.
