Hello friend,
There is no such standard maintained every year. The number of questions in the year was 175, whereas in the year 2007, it was 130 . Therefore, the number of questions going to be asked in the upcoming years can not be predicted.
However, the basic things that you need to keep in your mind is that for every wrong answer, there is provision for negative marking.
The questions are basically based on the following subject areas:
Quant and Data Interpretation
Reasoning and Decision Making Ability
Verbal Ability

EXAM PATTERN OF XAT

The duration of the exam is 140 minutes which consists 200 objective questions and an essay of 300 words...

Friend generally the total number of question are 200 for which 12o minutes are given and extra 20 min for essay writing.. For that you must be expert in solving math problem

Past Question Papers of XAT

XAT (Xavier's Aptitude Test) is conducted every year for admission to XLRI & XIMB which are ranked in the top 20 MBA Colleges of India

The XAT consists of 3 sections which have 35,38 and 31 questions respectively making it a total of 104 questions to be answered in just 140 minutes

For each incorrect answer in each section for the first 6 wrong answers you get a -0.25 and from there onward you get a -0.5 for every incorrect answer in each section..

The sections in XAT are as follows :-

Section A : Verbal and Logical Ability (35 questions)

Section B : Data Interpretation and Quantitative Aptitude (38 questions)

Section C : Analytical Reasoning and Decision Making (31 questions)
