Which IES you are Talking about, If it is Engineering Service Exam then you ain't Eligible for writing It.

But if you are asking about IES i.e Indian Economic Services then you are Eligible to write this.

Because For Engineering Service Exam a guy need to have only Specified Enigneering Branch Other than those branch students are Not Eligible to write this Exam.
Branches are Mechanical , civil , electronics and Telecommunication & Electrical Engineering.

For Indian Economic services, A guy need to have any Degree with any Discipline .

If you want more Information about anything Then you can refer this Official Website Of upsc.www.upsc.gov.in

Dear friend,

As far as i know CSE/IT students are not eligible for applying the IES exam conducted by the UPSC.

Only four branches of engineering namely: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics students are eligible to appear for this exam.

So try out other exams to get Govt sector jobs.

Good luck!!

Being and Engineering student, I think you are looking for the Engineering Service.
Look the Engineering Service is conducted for the following categories:

1.Civil Engineering
2.Mechanical Engineering.
3.Electrical Engineering
4.E&C Engineering.

You being CSE student, can educationally be eligible to appear for the exam, but let me tell you that you have to appear from the above categories papers only.

So I think it can be a little difficult for you to compete with students of the above branches, but you can always try.

Good Luck!

the other departments that they can recruit them are

not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st August, of the current year.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Hence you are eligible for writing the exam as they have not pinpointed the branches that aren't eligible. you should have passed else you should be pursuing engineering right now.

You can either prepare for the exam yourself, or approach a coaching institute.

REPUTED COACHING INSTITUTES ARE:

I guess this would be sufficient. and once you start your preparation, hang onto it.
try your level best. atleast 3 months preparation would be necessary.
