Dear you can go for PSU and entrance exam of EIL(Engineers India Ltd.).It is in Delhi.You have to fill the form and give entrance exam.It needs 65%in B.E. and you can go for PSU to get admitted in NTPC,BHEL,etc.Crieteria is same ,you have to fill separate forms but the exam is same.

There are various job profiles for a BE engineer in the Govt sector as well as in the private sector.

In both sectors, BE engineers are offered lucrative pay-scales.

Govt companies ie PSUs generally go in IITs and NITs and some other reputed colleges only for direct campus placements.
For the students of other colleges they conduct separate examination that usually consist of written test and interview.
Also, the jobs in PSUs are sometime provided on the basis of basis of GATE score and personal interview. So, You can either apply directly through GATE or you can go through the separate exams conducted by the PSUs itself.
All the related information use to be published in employment news and in some case other dailies as well.
As you are a mechanical engineer, you can get chances to apply in mostly govt. companies.

There are several government jobs available for BE both central and state government job but the main thing is that you have to fit for that type of job so try to develop your skill if not it is better to do higher studies in your specific field and then try for job.
