VAO stands for Village Administrative Officer. To fill up the 1870 vacancies Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission is conducting an examination which is better known as TNPSC VAO Exam. To know more about the district wise vacancies see the list below:



~To sit for the TNPSC VAO exam you need to have a secondary school leaving certificate or its equivalent. Even if you have higher qualification that will be considered only when you have the SSLC certificate. Thus for this exam basic general qualification is required.

~VAO exam's age limit is different for different categories. The minimum age limit irrespective of what your category is 21.

~The upper age limit for the general category is 30. For the reserved categories like SC/ST candidates the upper age limit is 40.

~Proficiency in Tamil language is of vital importance and therefore you should be well versed in this language so that you don't face any hindrance while speaking to other people.

~You need to be physically fit while giving this examination. Therefore they will ask you to produce medical fitness certificate in the form of TNMS, TNJMS or TNSS.

~Selection procedure is simple and uncomplicated. If you satisfy all the above eligibility criteria then you can apply for this examination online and after that you have to give a written exam in any one of the examination centre in Tamil Nadu. If you get selected then you will be called for the personal interview session.

~For the VAO exam questions will come from two subjects: General Knowledge and General Tamil/ English. You will be given only one paper to finish in three hours. Total marks alloted for this exam is 300 marks and you need to manage minimum 90 marks in this exam to qualify. Questions will be of SSLC standard and the general knowledge paper can be answered in either english or hindi.

~The application fees can either be paid online or offline. If you want to pay online then you have to pay the amount via credit or debit card. If you want to pay offline then you have to pay the amount by going to any of the Indian nationalized bank. Cost of the fee for the general category is 125 rupees and for the reserved category it is 50 rupees.

~The last date for submitting online application for this examination is already over. Even the last date for submitting fees online was 10th August, 2012. But if you want to pay the amount offline then remember today is the last date to do that.

Please Note: Today is the last date for paying the application fee offline.

~Exam is going to take place on 30th of September, 2012. The duration of the exam is three hours. It will start from 10 am and end at 1 pm.
