If you have 12th standard OR graduation degree then you are applicable for VAO exam but you age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide as per govt rule But you must know the Tamil language.

VAO Exam Eligibility Criteria:

• VAO stands for Village Administrative Officer. To recruit these officers an examination is conducted by the Tamilnadu Public Service Commission. Whenever there is a vacancy they conduct this examination. To apply for this post some eligibility criteria needs to be satisfied. Some of them have been listed below:
  
• Out of the total seats reserved 30% are kept reserved for women, 5% for ex-servicemen and 3% for physically handicapped candidates. If the selectors fails to get that much women then the rest of the reserved vacant seats are filled up by men of that number.
  
• You need to have the secondary school leaving certificate as that is the minimum qualification required for this post. If you have higher qualifications then also you can apply for this post. But even in that case you need to show this certificate. This is mandatory.
  
• You have to attain the age of 21 years to give this exam. This is the lower age limit applicable for all category candidates.
  
• For general category candidates the upper age limit is 30 years and for SC/ST candidates the upper age limit is 40 years.
  
• If you get selected then you will be posted in the villages of Tamilnadu. The local languages of these people is Tamil. So it is very important for you to know this language freely to avoid any communication problem.
  
• Even if you do not know this language well then also you can give this exam but in that case you need to give the Tamil language exam which is also conducted by the TNPSC. All this needs to be done within two years from the date of selection.
  
• If you are physically fit only then you will be given the chance to give this exam. To prove your fitness you need to show medical certificates to the authorities concerned during exam time.
  
• Written exam is of vital importance here because the selection will be primarily based on that. Apart from other factors like the district that you have selected or the number of reservations of the district in question is also taken into consideration.
  
• The exam comprises of one paper and there will be two sections for you to answer. The first general knowledge section is bilingual whereas the second section is optional. You need to state your options in the application form itself.
  
• 200 questions will be there to answer and you will get only three hours to complete the whole paper. The total marks allotted for the paper is 300 out of which you need to get minimum 90 marks to qualify.
  
• Notifications for this year's exam was published in June and the exam is due in September. By November the result will come out and in December the interview or counselling session will start.
