NDA Stands for National Defence Academy examination and NDA is conducted twice in a year by Union Public Service Commission .

If you have completed 12th standard from recognized board with science department you are applicable for NDA exam.Commerce and arts student are applicable for only Indian Army branch.Final year student are applicable for NDA exam.

NOTE:- NDA exam not require any kind of percentage marks in 12th standard.

But your age should be in between 16.5 to 19 years.Only unmarried male candidate are applicable for NDA exam.You must have citizenship of India.

The selection procedure for NDA exam is 1) Written Test. 2) Personal Interview.

Information on NDA !!

NDA - National Defense Academy

Its an All India Entrance Examination which is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) in India to recruit or intake candidates for the various wings of the Indian Defense like the Indian Army, Navy or Air Force.


But before anybody can get into these, they have to pass through the recruitment procedure.

So first of all one has to satisfy the following Eligibility Criteria's to be eligible to sit for the NDA exam :-


1. You should be a minimum 12th pass from a recognized school or state board like NOS, CBSE, ICSE, etc.

2. As such no minimum marks criteria is mentioned in any notification, but you should be clear pass in all the subjects

3. Candidates interested to apply in the Air Force or Navy must have studied Physics and Maths in 12th as compulsory subjects.

4. You should be a minimum 16.5 to 19 years and an unmarried male Indian citizen.

5. Physical fitness is also of utmost importance..


Once you satisfy these, then you can apply for the NDA exam. This exam is conducted twice in a year : April and August.


In April it is conducted for those students who have just appeared in their board exams, and in August for those who have got their board results also.


Now for this year, the registrations are already over, and the exam is on 15th April 2012 which is a Sunday.

The students who have passed 10+2 are eligible for NDA , however for the air force and naval wing of National defense Academy the candidate must have physics and Mathematics in 12th as subjects also.

There is no particular passing marks. A cut off is decided which varies each year.
The written exam consists of 2 part and cut off is decided for each part.

Paper 1 is of Mathematics. The paper is of 300 marks and time allotted is 2.5 hours
Paper 2 is of General Ability Test. The paper is of 600 marks and time allotted is 2.5 hours

The General ability Test is further divided into 2 parts
Part A is of English of 200 marks
Part B is of General Knowledge of 400 marks

The Papers consist of Objective type questions only. There is no qualifying percentage. The list of qualified candidates is declared but Union Public Service Commission as per the cut off. Usually more than 45% marks in each subject is required for qualifying.
The qualified candidates are then called for Intelligence and Personality Test.

There is no such minimum qualifying marks for NDA exam but there are restrictions in applying different wings of army.

(i) For Army wing of National Defence
Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2
pattern of School Education or equivalent
examination conducted by a State
Education Board or a University.

(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of
National Defence Academy and for the
10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian
Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the
10+2 pattern of School Education or
equilvalent with Physics and Mathematics
conducted by a State Education Board or
a University.

Candidates who are appearing in the 12th
Class under the 10+2 pattern of School
Education or equivalent examination can
also apply for this examination.

There is no marks restrictions for the NDA(National Defence Academy)exam, NDA exam is conducted two times in every year.

So if you have any less percentage of marks in your 12th standard also eligible for this exam.

NDA exam is conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission).

NDA-I and NDA-II.

There two exams are conducted in every year, one is conducted in the first 6 months and another one is second 6 months.

I have 166 cm hieght and 58 kg wieght tell me that if iam eligible for joining indian navy

i have go 20% in math and 45% in general ability????? do i have any chance of passing nda and na???

i m getting 350 total in nda exam do i have any chance for ssb???? plz reply soon...

I m getting 310 marks in nda. 100 in matths. And 210 in general ability does I have any chance to clear written examination

After passing 12th with any stream you can apply in N.D.A exam.
There is percentage require for N.D.A.

N.D.A exam is conducted by U.P.S.C twice in a year.
In month of and April and August.
Eligibility criteria:-

I appreciate your interest in NDA.NDA means National Defence Academy.The exam for NDA is conducted by UPSC twice in a year.

The educational qualification required is plus two with math & physics.However commerce & Arts candidates can also write the exam but only for Army Wings.

Age required is 16.5 to 19 years.

The total exam is of 900 marks in two papers,Math for 300 marks in 2.5 hrs & general ability test which is further divided in two parts,part A English of 200 marks & part B general knowledge of 400 marks.

Out of 900 marks,50% marks may be considered as the qualifying marks which vary every time.

The cut off must be from both papers individually.

Apart from the above,one must be physically fit & should not have colur blindness.
