Is it possible to get promoted to 3rd year of GNM course having failed in one subject in 2nd year exam?

I have completed my 2nd year of General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course. However, I got failed in one subject in my 2nd year final examination. So, will I be promoted to 3rd year before re-sitting for that failed paper? Can I re-take that exam once I get into 3rd year?
