CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. Fourteen national law universities in turn conducts this examination. This year for example the exam was conducted by the Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur (HNLU). This is basically an objective test which the interested candidates needs to give for pursuing both LLB and LLM.

LLB Eligibility Criteria:-
  • You need to obtain a Senior Secondary School/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognised board.
  • You need to secure minimum 50% of marks in aggregate if you belong to the general category.
  • The minimum age limit for General and OBC candidates is 20 years. For SC and ST candidates and PWD candidates the upper age limit is 22 years old.
  • Final year students can also appear for this exam.

CLAT Exam Pattern:-

The exam is basically an objective test and for this exam 200 marks have been allotted. For this exam you will get two hours and the total marks have been broken up in the following way:-
  1. English including Comprehension: 40 marks
  2. General Knowledge/ Current Affairs: 50 marks
  3. Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability): 20 marks
  4. Legal Aptitude: 50 marks
  5. Logical Reasoning: 40 marks
Quote:
For every wrong answer 0.25 marks is deducted from the original score.
If there is a tie between two candidates in CLAT then tie is broken in the following way:-
  1. Higher marks in the section of legal aptitude
  2. Higher age
