TNPSC VAO Exam Eligibility Criteria:

~Tamilnadu Public Service Commission just like many other competitive exams also conducts an exam for the post of Village Administrative Officers. This exam is conducted almost every year by them depending on the vacancies available. The advertisement for this exam is released in two parts. One is for the SC/ST candidates and the second one is for all the other categories.

~Out of the total number of seats vacant 30% of seats are kept reserved for the women, 5% for the ex-servicemen and 3% for the physically handicapped candidates. If the number of women falls short then in that case that number of seats will be filled by men.

~If you wish to apply for this exam then you must have an SSLC pass certificate . In other words if you are a 10th pass out then you are eligible to apply for this post. If you possess higher qualifications it will be considered only when you have the above mentioned certificate to show.

~Your age should not be less than 21 years when applying for this exam. This is the minimum age limit to apply for this exam. The upper age limit for general category candidates is 30 years.

~There is age relaxation for the reserved category candidates. For SC/ST, MBCs/DCs, BCs and other such reserved category candidates the upper age limit is 40 years.

~You will face difficulty if you do not know the Tamil language properly since on getting selected you will be posted in the villages of Tamilnadu. To communicate with them fluently this criteria needs to be fulfilled.

~But even if you dont know the language properly then also you can apply for this exam and then sit for a Tamil language exam and pass in it. This exam is conducted by the TNPSC and all these needs to be done within two years from the date of selection.

~Selection of the candidates though is fully based on the written examination but some other factors are also taken into consideration. Like the district chosen by the candidate, reservation of vacancies of the district in question and other such things.

~Questions for the exam will come from the following subjects: General Knowledge and General Tamil/General English. 150 marks have been allotted for each paper and you need to complete the whole paper in three hours. Minimum 90 marks needs to be obtained to qualify.

~The first paper is bilingual and you will get the option to answer in either Tamil or English. The second paper is optional where you will get the option to state your preferences in the application form itself.

~For this year's exam the notifications was released in the month of June and by the third week of August you will be able to download the hall tickets. The exam is due in September and by November the results will come out. In the month of December the interview session or the counselling session will be conducted.

VAO Exam Date: 30.09.2012 (10am-1pm)
