Steps to become a Cardiologist for a candidate through MBBS course?
Respected Sir/Madam, I am going to get admission in MBBS course. But I have a desire to become a Cardiologist. Kindly let me know that how I can become a Cardiologist through my MBBS course? Please tell me steps. Thank you!

Steps to become Cardiologist:
There are two types of cardiologists. One type is cardiac Physician and the other is Cardiac Surgeon. >> Steps to become Cardiac Physician: <> Candidates have to do MBBS course. <> After obtaining the MBBS degree, they have to pursue MD in Cardiology. <> After obtaining MD degree, candidates have to pursue DM course in the concerned field. <> They must pass the licensure exam to get the license to practice as doctor. >> Steps to become Cardiac Surgeon: <> Complete MBBS course. <> Candidates should complete MS in Cardiology after completing MBBS course. <> After obtaining MS degree, they have to pursue M.Ch course in Cardiology. <> For more higher studies, they can do Ph.D in Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgery. |

Cardiologist is one who has done specialization in cardiology. MBBS candidates after completion of course pursue master's degree in cardiology.
Eligibility criteria for MBBS course; Candidates who have done 12th from a recognized board with PCB subjects. You need to have minimum of 50% marks in 12th board exam. The minimum age required to pursue this course is 17 years. NEET is National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is the competitive entrance exam for admission in MBBS and BDS course. |

After completing MBBS you have to study Post Graduation in Cardiology to become a Cardiologist.
Cardiologists can be referred as heart specialist. Cardiologists is the person who has trained to handle some critical Heart condition which an ordinary doctor can't do. Steps: First, you have to complete your MBBS course. Apply for PG NEET entrance exam to get admission in MD. Complete 3 year long MD course. After completing MD you can pursue 3 year long DM in Cardiology course. |

If you want to become a Cardiologist then at the time of counselling you will be eligible to pursue only MBBS. After completing 5 years of MBBS you have to pursue MS and while pursuing MS you will get specialization in any sector.
If you want to be a Cardiologist then you should choose specialization in Cardiologist. |

The steps involved for becoming cardiologist after MBBS are mentioned below in detail:
- After completing MBBS you need to go for higher education like MD/ MS/ DM/ M.Ch/ PGD courses in Cardiology. - For studying the above mentioned courses you need to attend any entrance exam conducted by different states & universities for post graduation - Some of the entrance exams are BHU MD/ MS Entrance test, All India post graduate medical entrance exam, Delhi university post graduate medical entrance test, Jawaharlal institute of post graduate medical education & research entrance exam and etc., - Based on your interest attend any entrance exam and qualify in it. - Complete post graduation course in cardiology which will be around 1 - 3 years. - You need to request a registration from medical council of India for practicing in cardiology and become cardiologist in private or government hospitals. - The basic salary given for the cardiologist will vary around INR 60K - 1Lakh. |

After completing your MBBS degree, you have to pursue 3 years MD or 3 years DM (Cardiology) to become a cardiologist.
After completing MD in Cardiology course and getting the requisite registration from Medical Council of India, the cardiologist can get jobs in Government Hospitals or can also open their own Heart care centre. |

The full form of MBBS is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery course.
Eligibility criteria for MBBS course: 12th passed from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Minimum of 50% marks in board examination is required. Then appear for NEET exam and crack it to pursue MBBS course. After MBBS, specialization should be done in Cardiology for becoming cardiologist. |

If you wish to become Cardiologist, then you may become either Cardiologist Surgeon or Cardiologist Physician.
For becoming Cardiologist Surgeon, You have to complete MBBS, then pursue MS (Cardiology) for 3 years. Then, after MS, pursue M.Ch (Cardiology) for 3 years. After completing M.Ch, you will have to pursue Ph.D.(Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgery) For becoming Cardiologist Physician, You have to complete MBBS, then pursue MD (Cardiology) of 3 years. After completing MD, you will have to pursue DM (Cardiology) of 3 years duration. |

Cardiologist is a specialist who offers services in heart and its issues, the branch of medical science called cardiology. First step towards becoming cardiologist is to appear for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.
NEET is conducted by CBSE for admission in MBBS and BDS course. Candidates who have done 12th with PCB subjects and secured 50% marks can apply for this exam. Depending upon your rank, you can get admission in good colleges of MBBS and then specialize in cardiology. |
