I have done B.com & doing MBA. want to prepare for income tax officer exam. pls any body help me about syllabus...

There are three papers
1. English language-
error recognition, fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposositions,articles, etc), vocabulary, spellings, grammer, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms,phrase, completion of sentence, idioms.
2. General Awareness-
geography, economic, general policy, scientific research, etc.
3. Arithmetic-
simple maths till class 10 syllabus

The exam is held in the month of April so have also have much time to preparation.But for this exam Physical test is also very much important.

Preliminary Examination: This exam is conducted in the month of may or june.
It consists of two papers
(a) General awareness and General intelligence (PART-A)- 100 questions of 100 marks
(b) Arithmetic (PART-B)- 100 questions of 100 marks.


Main Examination: Candidates qualified in the preliminary exam becomes eligible for the main exam.
Main Exam consists of two part. PART A will be of written examination and PART B will be of personality test.

Subjects-
(a) General Studies (200 marks, duration 3 hours)
(b) English (100 marks, duration 2 hour 20 minutes)
(c) Arithmetic (200 marks, duration 4 hours)
(d) Language (100 marks, duration 2 hour 20 minutes)
(e) Communication skill and writing (200 marks, 2 hour 20 minute)


Personality Test: This is the final part, in this interview is conducted. The interviewer checks the mental ability and personality of the candidate through this interview.

walking-1600meter in 15 min.
cycling-8km in 30min.

deadline-2nd march 2011

Staff selection commission(SSC) every year provide opportunity to set up career as an Income tax Officer..

The main objective of IT officer is "To promote compliance with direct tax laws, through caring taxpayer service and strict enforcement and thus realize maximum resources for the Nation development. "

-> good mental, physical ability is needed to with stand any kind of task.

-> eligibility:-

- candidate having degree in any disciplinary from recognised university are eligible.

- The age limit as per exam must be in between 18yrs to 27 yrs.

-> physical standard :-

-> Height -> 157.5cm
-> Chest -> 81cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm or more.

Apart form above eligibility below mentioned quality are essential......

-> Having ability to complete 1600 meters running in maximum of 15 minutes.

Paper I (Objective Type)
Part A: English Language:
Questions in this component will be designed to test the candidate's understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on error recognition, fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), vocabulary, spellings, Grammar, sentence-structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idiomatic use of words, etc. There will be a question on passages and comprehension of passages also. The standard of the questions will be only of 10+2 level.
Part B: General Awareness:
Questions in this component will be aimedat testing the candidate's general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Geography, Economic, General policy, Scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
2.
Paper II (Conventional): Arithmetic:
This part will include questions on problems relating to number systems, Computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportions, averages, interest, profit & loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time & distance, ratio and time etc.

Income tax ::

To become an income tax officer you have to appear for the SSC exam.

Eligibility::

You should have done your graduation in any streams

You should not be more then 27 years and less then 18 years of age .Some relaxation in upper age for SC/ST and OBC students is given.

For SC/ST 5 years in upper age limit is relaxed where as for the OBC 3 years in upper age limit is relaxed

Income Tax Officer Exam is conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit the Income Tax Officer.

Those candidate have completed graduation degree from recognized university are eligible for INCOME TAX OFFICER exam.

To become Income Tax officer you have to pass the Civil Services Exam conducted by the Union Public.

Also your age should be in between 18 years to 25 years.
The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

The examination is conduct two ways (i) Written examination (ii) Interview for Personality Test for such candidates as may qualify in the written test.

I am a Chartered Accountant as well as commerce graduate nd going to appear for M COM Part II exam in april 2012 so any benefit of holding CA qualification? Can anyone guide me the detailed procedure i should follow for job in income tax department?
