Is UGC NET required for getting on to the post of Assistant Professor?


Myself Vanitha Shree, I have completed M.Sc MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY. Is there any necessity to attend UGC NET exam? If I clear NET exam is there any chance of getting Assistant Professor post in medical college or it is applicable for only degree and PU colleges?
