Re: What is the course structure of Minimum Competency Vocational Courses (MCVC)?
MCVC is not a mandatory course in order to pursue Hotel Mangaement courses. There are several courses in Hotel Management offered by different institutes. The couses may be Certificate/ Diploma , Undergraduation or Post gradiution.
Duration: 6 months to 2 years
Duration: 1 year to 4 yearsNote: Admission process for Government colleges/Institutes is done through an entrance test - NCHMCT JEE and conduct every year in the moth of April consists of two rounds:-MCQ paper and GD/PI whereas private colleges conduct their own hotel management entrance exams for admisssion in Hotel managemnet courses. MCVC(Minimum Competency and Vocational Courses) The Government of Maharashtra began this MCVC programme at the 10+ 2 level in the academic year 1988-89. The student can pursue this course after passing 10th standard. Instead of going for traditional courses (Arts/Commerce/Science) can take admission in such vocational courses. The duration of these courses are of 2 years i.e. similar to 10+2 pattern. MCVC comprises 70-80% of vocational component which helps the students to get practical knowledge and experience. On successfully completion of this course, candidates become eligible to apply for any courses of their own interest such as Bachelor's degrees in Arts, Engineering, Commerce and Social Work. According to the MCVC scheme, the different groups include in this course are Engineering technology, commerce, agriculture, health & para medical services and home science etc. You have to choose a relevant field in which subject you want to be specialised. But in 2018, The Maharashtra government has floated a plan to merge existing MCVC institutes and upgrade toIndustrial Training Institutes (ITIs) so that student get better quality education and training. Different institutes offer different course structures according to the specializations.
