As per the guidelines of Central Board of Secondary Education, the minimum age required to appear in 10th board exam is 3 years as on 31st December of the year of examination. However, there is no upper limit of age to appear in the exam. But there is maximum number of attempts to appear in the exam.

For CBSE Board schools,
  • Lower Age Limit for 10th Board Exams: 14 years (as on 31st December of the year of exam)
  • Upper Age Limit for 10th Board Exams: not defined

Since, your son's DOB is October 6, 2010 and he is currently in 6th standard. So, in 2024, he will be appearing for 10th Board Exams and his age as on 31st December 2024 will be 14 years 2 months.

Hence, he will be eligible for 10th Board Exams.

As per CBSE, there is no any lower or upper age limit criteria to appear in the 10th board examination.

So, you have to visit the Directorate of State Education who is the sole authority to declare the age limit for the respective state.
