I am doing B.Tech in Printing Technology, and I want to join Combined Defense Academy. Am I eligible for it or not? If yes, then please tell me the detail procedure.

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service and it is conducted by UPSC twice in a year. It is conducted for recruitment in defence services.

The common eligibility to appear for examination is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree from a recognised university.

The age limit is 19-25 years. Candidates passed B.Tech course are eligible to appear for recruitment in Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and OTA.

It is conducted in two stages as Written and SSB.

Combined Defense Services and for joining the same you need to qualify CDS entrance examination held by UPSC twice in a year.

--> The basic requirement for appearing in CDS entrance exmaination are as here under:-

* You must be an Indian citizen.

* Your age must lie within 19 years to 22 years for NA (Naval Academy ), 19 years to 23 years for AFA ( Air force Academy ), 19 years to 24 years IMA ( Indian Military Academy ) and 19 years to 25 years OTA ( Officer's Training Academy ).

* Your must have completed your graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. But, for joining NA and AFA flying branch you are required to hold B.tech degree course from recognized university.

* You must hold the physical and mental fitness as per the service requirements norms.

So being a B.tech holder you are eligible for appearing in CDS entrance examination if you satisfy other requirements apart from the educational requirement too.

If you want to join the defence service, then you are eligible to appear for Combined Defence Service.

Army - Bachelor degree in any discipline.

Being a B.Tech degree holder, based on your educational qualification you are eligible for appearing in CDS examination to join all the four wings of CDS.

Apart from your educational qualification, you need to hold the nationality of India with your age lying within 19 years to 22 years for NA, 19 years to 23 years for AFA, 19 years to 24 years for IMA and 19 years to 25 years. Also, you need to satisfy the physical fitness requirements norms too as notified in the notification released for the same examination.

Combined Defence Services Examination is conducted twice every year by Union Public Service Commission.

Eligibility criteria:

1. For AFA, INA, Bachelor of science with Mathematics and Physics at 12th or bachelor's degree in engineering.

2. In case of IMA, OTA, bachelor's degree in any discipline.

You can apply for CDS exam. The minimum age limit to apply for exam is 19 years.

The eligibility to appear for CDS examination is that :

Army - Bachelor degree in any discipline.

Navy - B.Tech course from a recognised university.

Air Force - Bachelor degree in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2.

OTA - Bachelor degree in any discipline.

So, you are eligible to appear for examination. You have to appear and qualify in written and SSB stages for final selection.

Eligibility criteria for CDS exam:

Academic qualification: Bachelor's degree in engineering or science with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized board for Navy, Air Force. In case of IMA, OTA, candidates from all discipline are eligible.

The age limit for different academies are:

IMA: 19-24 years.

OTA: 19-25 years.

AFA: 19-23 years.

INA: 19-22 years.

Both male and female candidates can apply for the examination.

You need to fulfil minimum academic qualification and age criteria to apply for Combined Defence Services examination. The academic qualification required to apply for CDS examination is that candidate should be bachelor's degree passed or in final year of it.

>>For Navy and Air force, stream matters, it is science or engineering. The age criteria is 19-22 years for navy and that for AFA is 19-23 years.

>>For OTA, IMA, candidates from any discipline are eligible. The age criteria for IMA is 19-24 years and that for OTA is 19-25 years.

The notification for CDS II in 2018 is not released. You can wait for it to apply for exam at official website of UPSC.
