Schedule of IPS Entrance Exam

The recruitment process for the Indian Police Service (IPS) is done through the Civil Service Examination which is conducted by the UPSC every year..

Eligibility Criteria :-

A candidate can appear for the Civil Service Exams only if :-

>> The candidate has cleared his graduation from a recognized institution or is a final year student..

>> The candidate must be within the age limit of 21-30 years if general, 21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST candidates..

>> The maximum number of attempts allowed for the general candidates is 4, for OBC its 7 and for SC/ST candidates..there is no limit..

>> Apart from these qualifications..the candidate must also comply with the physical criterion set for the IPS..

Exam Pattern :-

Preliminary Exam :- This will test you on your general awareness and aptitude..

Mains :- If you clear the Prelims then you will qualify for Mains which will test you on the basis of your graduation knowledge and English..

After that you will be called for the final interview and then for medical examination..

I have also provided you with the physical qualifications required for IPS..

The schedule for the Civil Services 2013 is not yet out but following is the last year's schedule of the examination :-

Release of Notification :- 4th February,2012

Last Date for Form Submission :- 5th MArch,2012

Prelims :- 20th MAy,2012

Mains :- 5th October,2012

* IPS Stands for Indian police Service.

* If you want to become an IPS officer , then you have to crack the civil services examination conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission.

* If you want to appear in the civil services examination , then you have to fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria :

* You must have completed your graduation from any recognized college/university.

* Your age should lie in between 21-+30 years.

* There is also a relaxation in upper age of 3 years for students belonging to OBC Category and of 5 years for those belonging to SC/ST Category.

* You must have Indian Nationality.

* You must be physically fit .

For this year , you cannot give the examination because the preliminary exam has already been conducted so you have to wait for the next year until the notifications regarding the exam are not announced.
