GRE stands for Graduate Record Examination,it is conducted by Educational testing Service(ETS).You have to undertake coaching in some good instituions like Princeton rewiew,Manhattan rewiew etc..with their Help you have to book the exam slots on the website-www.ets.org.The coaching period will be about 6-8 weeks during which you have to book the slot.The application form or the exam fee for gre is corrently 190$ or 8500 rupees and the coaching fee varies according to the institutions..All the best

The application for GRE test is done online and for that one is required
to register first at http://www.ets.org/gre
After that you can apply for the test.
The test fee is $165 for US students and is $195 (INR 8816)for students staying outside US.
While applying for the test you will have independence to choose a date and place
of test which best suits you.
Be cautious while applying because if you wish to change date or place of test
you will be charged $25.
As you are willing to apply to US universities you will have to appear TOEFL test too
because mostly universities ask for your TOEFL score along with GRE score.
