Re: Eligibility criteria of Indian Police Service exam? Is it mandatory to be in Police Service for minimum 5 years?
To be an IPS (Indian Police Service) officer, you are required to qualify the Civil Services examination held by UPSC once every year.
Further, for appearing in the Civil Services examination, you need to be an Indian citizen with your age lying within 21 years to 32 years (further there is provision of age relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved category). Also, you must have completed your graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university. So, if you hold the above mentioned basic requirement for appearing in the Civil Services examination then you are eligible to become an IPS officer and there is no requirement of experience of working in police service. For complete details regarding the Civil Services examination, you can refer to the link www.upsc.gov.in. |
