You need to qualify the UPSC exam which has three rounds to become Indian High Commission.

Civil Services Preliminary Exam (MCQ type)
Civil Services Mains Exam (Written and Descriptive type)
Personality Test/Interview.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Civil Services Exam and a candidate who desires to become an Ambassador of India then he/she has to take this exam.

1. UPSC Civil Services Exam
2. Civil Services Preliminary Exam (MCQ type)
3. Civil Services Mains Exam (Written and Descriptive type)
4. Personality Test/Interview.

How to get employed into Indian High commission?

The candidate has to crack the Foreign Service Exams (IFS) through the combined civil services exam. Indian Government also employs personnel from other departments like SSC, IAS, IPS, IRS, Defense services, etc. The candidate should be the citizen of India and should be above 21 years old to be eligible for this exam.
