CID - Criminal Investigation Department


To become a CID officer you need to write the Combined Graduate Level Examination which is conducted every year by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

There are certain qualifications which are needed to be satisfied and they include such as:

• Nationality
• Age Limit
• Education Qualification

To be descriptive about these criteria it is that:

~ The candidate should have a Citizenship in India as per the Nationality Standard framed for the exam.

~ The candidate appearing should have completed graduation degree and it can in any stream from any recognized university with a fair percentage

~ The age limit which is needed by the candidate is that the candidate should be between 20 to 27 for general candidates

~ There are certain relaxation allowed and for SC/ST candidates it is 5 years

~ 3 years relaxation for OBC candidates


Physical Standards:

Minimum Height for CID - 165 cm

Minimum Chest for CID - 76 cm


If you satisfy them all then you are eligible in becoming a CID officer.

Exam Pattern:



Attempts Allowed:

~ There is no limit for the SC/ST candidate

~ 4 attempts allowed for General category candidates

~ 7 attempts allowed for OBC category candidates
