i want to know how to apply and
prepare for indian foreign services exam.
what are the best books to be refer?
tell me the question patterns also....

To get into IFS, you have to write Civil service exam. This exam is conducted by UPSC every year.You should be a graduate and in the age group 21-30 years, to be eligible for this exam. This exam has three stages, prelims, mains and then interview. You have to clear all stages.

Exam pattern: There are four GS papers, two optional papers, one essay paper and two papers for languages.
Optional means you have to select one subject which can be either your graduation subject or any other subject. Language papers are qualifying in nature.

All these papers are subjective papers. But prelims is objective, but its marks are not added in final marks, you just have to qualify.

Applicants have to apply online on UPSC official website that is www.upsconline.nic.in.

Registration Part I:

Fill all the details regarding your Qualification, Age, and Address, Nationality, Marital status, Valid Email Id and phone number.

Submit it to get registration number.

Registration Part II:

Log in Again with your registration number.

Pay the required fees via challan or online payment (Debit/Credit card or Net Banking)

If you have paid fees via challan then enter your transaction details accordingly.

Choose your Examination center.

Take printout of online application for future use.

CIVIL SERVICES (PRELIMINARY) EXAM 2015:-

Date of Notification:- 16.05.2015
Last date for receipt of applications:- 12.06.2015 (FRIDAY)
Date of commencement of Examination:- 23.08.2015 (SUNDAY)

CIVIL SERVICES (MAIN) EXAM 2015:-

Date of commencement of Examination:- 18.12.2015 (FRIDAY)
