Why are girls not allowed to appear in NDA entrance exam?

NDA stands for the National Defense Academy. If we see the eligibility criteria for the NDA exam, only unmarried male candidates in the age range of 16.5-19.5 years are allowed to appear for the exam.

Female candidates are not eligible for the exam as per the decision of Union Public Service Commission. When the structure for the NDA exams and further training was formed, it was assumed that girls may not be able to or bear the hardships during training period.

The decision was taken by a panel of experienced person and then commission mentioned that only unmarried male candidates can apply for the exam. However, a girl candidate wishing to join defense sector can appear for the Combined Defense services and Short Service commission exams.

Girls are not eligible for NDA examination.
The limit for the NDA exam is 16.5 to 19 years.
At this age girls are not physically fit for the training.
So, government of india is not allowing girls for NDA recruitments.
