Hello friend, IAS means Indian Administrative Services For this your minimum qualification should be graduation from any discipline. your age should not below 21 yrs and not more than 30 yrs . This exam is conducted once in a year by UPSC. Age relaxation is for OBC and SC ST. General candidates are eligible to attempt only 4 times while OBC 7 times. Only top brains from India are being absorbed into IAS. In order to be placed in IAS or any other civil service, one should crack the following selection procedure CSAT Exam (Civil Services Aptitude Test) Civil Services Main Exam Interview CSAT Exam is going to be conducted once in a year by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). Here is the eligibility criteria to apply for this Exam. One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. No minimum percentage of marks are required for the candidates in Graduation. Age criteria : Candidates of General category should be in the age group of 21-30 years. Relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category. Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC or ST category. To become IAS officer you need to complete your studies i.e. after 10th complete 11th & 12th,then complete Graduation from a recognized university. Minimum qualification required to appear for IAS exams is Graduation from a recognized university. You need focused study of subjects. You should analyze the syllabus, and hard work is needed to crack this examination.It is under Civil Service Exam conducted once in a Year by UPSC.To become an IAS Officer One Needs to crack Civil Service Exam. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS IN DETAILS: Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. IAS stands for Indian administrative officer and the selection of IAS officer is done through the Civil services exam.First of all you have to buy the application form from the post offcies of india which comes out in the month of January. The fees of application form is free for SC/ST and reserved categories but it will cost you Rs 100 if you are from general category student. THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS is: 1)A candidate must have passed his graduation in any field from any recognized university. 2)A candidate in the final year of graduation is also eligible for the IAS exam. 3)Natonality: * Only Indian nationals are eligible for IAS and IPS. * For other services a candidate can be either of the following: 1. a citizen of India, 2. a subject of Nepal, 3. a subject of Bhutan, 4. Among the 23-26 civil services IAS(Indian Administrative service) is top one following IPS and IFS etc., Details of examination : It is a three stage pattern exam -> Prelims(Now CSAT) ->Mains ->Interview. For Prelims all the candidates will have common syllabus where you have to definitely clear this stage to get promoted to the next stage In the Mains stage you have to select two optional subjects in which a descriptive test will be conducted. Upper age limit will be relaxed for reserve category as per rule of Government. Academic Qualifications: Only those candidates can go to apply for UPSC Civil Service Examination 2012 who are Graduate or equivalent degree holder by a recognized University or Institute. Number of Attempts: Four Attempts are permitted to the candidates for applying for this Exam. There is no limitation of attempts for Schedule Class and Schedule Tribes and Physically handicapped Candidates whereas other backward class are permitted to avail 7. UR – 4 Attempts OBC – 7 Attempts SC / ST PH – No limitation Preliminary Examination: Civil Services 2012 Preliminary Examination will consist Two Papers having 200 Marks each, for which time duration of 2 hours will be allotted.
