Re: IAS exam eligibility for CA students?

You can apply for IAS with any graduation degree...

Does not matter if its CA....if CA is a graduation degree then you are absolutely eligible.

Because to become an IAS you should have completed your graduation first in any stream from any recognized university....that is the only educational criteria....then take a look at the following things.

1. Your age should be between 21 years and 30 years.
[33 years for Sc/ST]

2. You should have good knowledge in current affairs and social issues.
[Because you need to have very strong in that]

So if you fulfill the above conditions, you can easily crack IAS exam.

Re: IAS exam eligibility for CA students?

To become an IAS you have to clear Group1 exam.
The eligibility is Degree in any field.
But CA is not a course that can be called as degree. Its just a designation. So even though you complete CA you will not be eligible to do that.
You may write degree privately and then you may try for mains(Gorup1)..

Re: IAS exam eligibility for CA students?

@ what is the actual work of an IAS?

IAS or Indian Administrative services is a Government service of India which is controlled

by Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, Department of Personnel and Training.

The IAS started in 1946 and before that it was known as Indian Civil Services.

An IAS is responsible for the civil administration in a city/district.

The work of IAS may include

Policy Formulation for various development work

Policy Implementation

Civil administration

Advisors to Ministers

Managing bureaucracy (Center and State)

Thus indirectly an IAS is the most powerful executive of a city/district who directly

reports to ministers and suggest them the required works to be done and implement

the final decision.

The exam for IAS is conducted by UPSC.

hi friend ,

Since you are a CA means you have already done graduation. And graduation is the only criterian for IAS exam. But have to check your age criterian first which is 21-30 years as on 1.7.2011 for IAS-2011.
For application you have to get it from your city's head post office by the payment of Rs. 100. And send it to the address specified in form.
