To become a CBI officer, then you have to appear the exams conducted by UPSC. This exams is held generally once a year for the post of Sub-Inspectors of Police in Central Bureau of Investigation and the application forms and other particulars are published in the Employment News in the month of October. Yes , B-TECH (MECHANICAL) are eligible for CBI exam. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CBI EXAM:- ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION: You must be passed graduation from any recognized university. AGE CRITERIA: For General category candidate,age should be between 21 to 30 years For OBC category candidates age should be between 21 to 33 years For SC/ST category candidates age should be between 21 to 35 years. To join in CBI you need to write the CGPE EXAM conducted by UPSC...!! and minimum qualification for that is to be Graduate.. So, you are eligible for applying CBI exam. for that you need to have good physical strength also like any armed force..
