There in no valid no. of attempts for GATE. YOU may appear so many no. of attempts. After passing gate exam you will get certificate & it is valid for 2years only. |

If you have enough self confidence that you can crack the exam by self preparation you can go for it.. But at this stage i do think that you should take some coaching as you have left with so much little time.. Otherwise you have to study hard, try to solve the previous year papers and practice a lot..This will help you at least in many ways. Good luck! thank you |

There is no short cut to success when you are giving a exam like GATE. You should have a comprehensive knowledge of the subject that you studied during four years of your engineering course. Also pay attention to solve ealier years GATE papers.You should practice more and more in order to get a thorough understanding of the paper pattern.Try to get some study material of some good coaching institute. It will be helpful to understand the concepts of the subject. |

B.Tech 3rd year students can't appear in GATE exam, this eligibility came in this year 2012. before that B.Tech 3rd year students can appear in the GATE exam. but don't worry, you can appear in the next year. the eligibility criteria for 2012 GATE exam is given below The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE 2012: >> Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes. >>Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes. >> Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology. >> Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology. >> Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Until the last GATE exam (i.e. GATE 2011) students of 3rd year in the present academic year were able to sit and the Score was valid for 2 years. But now as per the new rules the students of 3rd year cannot appear in the exam. |

Yes without coaching you can score good ranking in GATE for that you have to keep concept clear . Move towards destination step by step means dont start all subject simultaneously. First plan your syllabus and divide remaining period in such manner that you can cover most of the important portion of your syllabus. No need to read whole syllabus without that you can still score good in GATE. But dont skip important topics like Data structure, Theory of computation, operating system, DBMS, Computer networks, Digital logic and Aptitude. |

Any one can apply for GATE who is studying pre-final or final year student and you have unlimited chances to write GATE exam. Since you are studying 3rd year CSE, you have golden oppurtunities to write GATE. You can prepare self for attending GATE exam because mostly the questions are asked from your 1st year and 2nd year CSE branch subjects. If you are good with those syllabus its quite easy to get a good rank.
