CAT stands for Common Admission Test.

This exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Managmement (IIM's).

To sit for this exam you have to secure minimum 50% of marks at graduation level. Since you have not been able to do that so it does not really matters whether you have got that marks at post graduation level or not.

You do not need to lose heart over it because there are a list of other entrance exams you can give to pursue MBA.

For example you can give MAT which is conducted by the Centre of Management Services.

For this exam you just need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. Even final year students can also appear for this exam.

There is no pressure of maintaing a fixed percentage of marks at graduation level for this exam. Even by giving this exam you will get the chance of pursuing this course from top AICTE approved B-Schools.

While filling up the form you will get the privilege to select top 5 colleges of your choice from where you want to do this course. Which college at the end of the day you will get depends on the marks you secure in the written exam.

Exam Pattern:

Language Comprehension
Mathematical Skills
Data Analysis and Sufficiency
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
Indian and Global Environment

Generally objective type questions comes of 200 marks and the duration of the paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Top Colleges which accepts MAT scores are as follows:

Institute of Business Management & Technology
Disha Institute Of Advanced Studies
Delhi School of Professional Studies And Research
International Institute of Business Studies
Jaipuria Institute of Management
Balaji Institute of Mordern Management
Institute of Business Management & Research
PSG Institute of Management

Re: Am I eligible to give CAT with 50% in MSc?

dear friends, the candidate who have passed the Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for the CAT examination. Since you have scored 48% in your Bachelor’s Degree so you are not eligible to apply for the CAT examination.

But if you have any reservation quota then you are eligible to apply for the CAT examination. For the SC/ST and Physically Handicapped candidates the percentage required is 45%. So if you have any quota then you are eligible to apply for the CAT examination.

Re: Am I eligible to give CAT with 50% in MSc?

Hey ,
CAT does not have any stringent rules on your graduation marks all you need to have a pass mark and the ability to crack the numbers and words which they give on the day of exam.

But be sure that unless you have a high percentile in CAT is is difficult for you to enter a reputed college.

So be happy that you are now eligible and kindly start your homework now.

TIME books are really comprehensive and please refer to their content to score high marks.

Other institutions also offer quite good books, but the former is better in terms of understanding.

All the best.

Re: Am I eligible to give CAT with 50% in MSc?

hi!

In CAT exam the minimum eligibility requirement is a bachelor's degree & there is no incentive for a post graduate candidate. So it does not matter what percentage of marks you secured in Msc.

I am sorry to say but you can not appear in CAT exam since you do not fulfill the eligibility criteria.

CAT eligibility, 2011 :
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA)categories], awarded by any of the recognised Universities

Re: Am I eligible to give CAT with 50% in MSc?

Hello,
The eligibility for CAT is- The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
For SC/ST/DA candidates it is 45%.
Candidates in final year can also apply.

But regarding your percentage,if you belong to SC/ST category, then only you would be eligible.

And on the second part of your question,as far as iam concerned there is no such relaxation for those having combinations of statistics in economics.

Re: Am I eligible to give CAT with 50% in MSc?

yea you may appear in CAT examination although you have less marks in your graduation.

any graduate student may appear in CAT examination. but you may face problem at the time of admission. some institution give criterion that you mast have minimum of 50% marks in graduation to take admission in that particular institution.

i do not think that there is any system like that the students who have statistics in their combination in economics they considered less 5% cut of marks.

best wishes.
