Re: Difference between IES and Engineering Services? Hello friend, IES exam is Indian Economic Service Exam conducted by UPSC. To be eligible for the exam, you must hold a post graduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics/Business Economics or Econometrics. The minimum eligible age is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 30 years for candidates belonging to general category, 33 years for OBC and 35 years for SC/ST. Engineering Service exam is conducted for recruitment of engineers in government sector. To be eligible for the exam, you must hold a degree in engineering. The examination is conducted for the following four departments of engineering. Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering The age limit to apply for the exam is similar to the IES eligibility criteria. |

If you have to become a high rank police officer in Government service you will go for IPS.similarly if you want to become high rank engineer in government companies in various sectors , you have to go for IES or Indian Engineering Services.With simple engineering degree you can't join at higher positions in government companies but with IES you can. see this links for eligibility criteria and other information http://upscguide.com/upscexam/eligibility-1. I am not sure but i think computer guys are not allowed to sit In IES.It is for only guys with degree in core branches. |
