Re: Which subjects I can opt for IAS having completed Engineering in ECE? You want to serve the nation, which is really appreciable.. For become a IAS [INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE ], you must have to clear the civil service examination, conducted by the UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION [UPSC]. This civil service examination has three stages- 1. CSAT [CIVIL SERVICE ATTITUDE TEST] 2.MAINS 3.INTERVIEW [PERSONALITY TEST] Exam pattern-  Educational requirement for appear in this examination is a graduation degree from a recognized college. The age limit for this examination is 21-30 years,. there are 5 & 3 years of the age relaxations are applicable for the SC\ST & OBC candidates respectively. Optional subjects-  No. of attempts- four for the General candidates, Seven for the OBC candidates, No such restriction for the SC\ST candidates. Thank you!!! ~gamble~ |

Actually IAS Examination pattern is of three levels i.e., Level 1 - CSAT(Preliminary) Level 2 - Mains Levle 3 - Interview CSAT is the first level which is used by UPSC to screen out most of the candidates or applicants through a Multiple choice format questions. For this the syllabus is so general there is no need to select the optional subject at this stage. The Optional selection comes into picture at the second level i.e.., Mains level here you need to select the option subject from the following list. the list of optional subjects are ->Mathematics ->Agriculture ->Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science ->Botany ->Chemistry ->Civil Engineering ->Commerce ->Economics ->Electrical Engineering ->Geography ->Geology ->Indian History ->Law ->Mathematics ->Management ->Mechanical Engineering ->Medical Science ->Philosophy ->Physics ->Political Science ->Psychology ->Public Administration. From these optionals you can select two of them which are relating and interesting to you so that you should feel happy while learning and practicing on the questions. this should be the attitude while selecting the optionals So this is how you have to opt the IAS optional's. You can choose the subject from given beloe subject. Candidate has to choose two subjects from a list of 25 optional subjects. Following are the not allowed combinations in the UPSC syllabus- -> Political Science International relations and Public Administration, -> Commerce Accountancy and Management, -> Anthropology and Sociology, -> Mathematics and Statistics, -> Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Veterinary Science, -> Management and Public Administration, -> Any TWO branches of Engineering, -> Medical Science and Animal Husbandry Veterinary Science, -> Combination of TWO Literature thanks |
