Re: Only M.Tech can be done through GATE? Which other courses? Yes only M. Tech can do through GATE; Elligibility Criteria: A master's degree in any branch of science or M.Sc. in Mathematics. Students in the final or pre-final year of these programmes are also eligible. A bachelor's degree in engineering/technology/architecture/pharmacy would also suffice. Candidates in the final or pre-final year may also apply. Candidates in the second year or above of the B.Sc. four-year Integrated Master's Degree Programme, or in the third year (or above) of the five-year Integrated Master's Degree Programme in engineering/technology. Candidates with professional qualification equivalent to BE/B.Tech. through a UPSC/AICTE-recognised examination Candidates who get less than 70 percentile get no score card ~~ THANK U ~~

Re: Only M.Tech can be done through GATE? Which other courses? dear friend, GATE exam is an entrance exam for M.tech course, which is conducted by IIT's and IISC jointly. Eligibility for GATE exam:- *The candidate must have complete the bachelor degree in the field of engineering/Technology/Architecture.. Or, *The candidate must have complete the master degree in the field of Science/Computer application/MBA etc.. *The candidate can also appear in GATE exam during the pre-final year or final year of graduation or post graduation.. *The validity of GATE exam is remains for 2 years. *There is no age limit to appear in GATE exam.. So, after qualifying in GATE exam you can only go for M.tech course.. if you have interest in doing M.tech then you can go for GATE exam.. All the best.. |

Courses/Benefit After GATE 1)M.Tech: candidates scoring at least 600+ marks along with at least 95% Percentile in GATE can expect Direct admission in IIT's for IIS few more good performance is required. 2)MS: Candidates scoring 550 marks along with 90+ percentile in GATE B.tech/B.E. candidate doesn't required to write CSIR-UGC-NET. 4)If candidate had appeared for GATE and must have valid and Very good GATE score and percentile, then for those there is a special scheme of fellowship. This is a special criteria which CSIR has for B.tech students.Which ia popular with the name GATE-JRF.The candidate will b given oppurtunity to persue integrated P.hd directly along with stipend from IIT's or IISC or NIT's or other institutes of national importance. |

The minimum educational qualification required for appearing in GATE is: A bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes. Yes, if you are successful in qualifying GATE you can enroll yourself in MTech courses of GATE participating colleges/universities. But to get admission in top engineering colleges like IITs, NITs etc. you must score high marks in GATE. There is no cut off percentage unlike BE/BTech for appearing in GATE. |

However it is upto the institutions who will allow students having certain percentages. You can confirm this on http://www.iitk.ac.in/gate/gate2011/eligibility.php But it is good if you achieve more than 60% marks in your btech. MTech is of two types.( Now a days a new field has been emerged ) MTech (regular) and MTech(Research). MTech (research) is offered to those candidates who have interests in research line. By the way, GATE score of more than 500 is sufficient to get admission in NITs and 600 for IITs. |

There are many colleges they provide direct admission in M.Tech. If you want to do your M.Tech from reputed colleges in india you must score at least 600+ in GATE. All the best. |

GATE-(M-tech,M.S,M.S BY RESEARCH)is a program organised by various IITs and IIScb in india.there r no restrictions i.e u can maintain even 50% in your B.E but should qualify in GTAE(25.3 was the qualifying marks last year(2010) and top mark was(85.5)).you can even try for ph.d from foreign university if u get qualified in iit. |

No, after getting a good rank in GATE you are not only eligible for M.Tech but students with a Master's degree can also apply for PhD. Then you can also have MS with details as provided above. Mathematics (Compulsory) (b) Fluid Mechanics (c) Materials Science (d) Solid Mechanics (e) Thermodynamics 2. Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes. 2. Master degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes. 3. Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/ Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/ Technology. 4. Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech.
