Re: Can I study Mtech in different branch than Btech?

you cannot just change the whole stream but yes there is a provision in some colleges like IIT delhi etc for interdisciplinary branches so you can take admission in those branches like if you have completed your B.Tech from ECE you can take admission in branches which have some portion of EC.

Re: Can I study Mtech in different branch than Btech?

Yes but slightly different branches can be chosen not 100% different from B.Tech.

M.Tech. branch can be any subject covered in the B.Tech.

for example; Electronics student cannot go for Mechanical branch vise versa.

so. if you have did B.Tech. in Electronics then the M.Tech. Branches may be as follow;-
M.Tech. Electronics & Electrical
M.Tech. Microwave Engg
M.Tech. Signal processing
M.Tech. Digital communication
M.Tech. Electronics and communication Engg.
M.Tech. Rf & Microwave Engg.
M.Tech. Radar Engg.
M.Tech. Embedded System
M.Tech. Digital Electronics
.
.
.
etc.

Re: Can I study Mtech in different branch than Btech?

B.Tech has different branches like CIVIL,MECH,ECE,CS,EEE.
But M.Tech don't have branches it has specialization areas regrading this branches. If you study your B.Tech in ECE,you can eligible to specialization
in EEE/CS.So you can different areas in M.Tech which is some sense related to your degree.Or you can do your minor degree specialization also in M.Tech if they offered.

Re: Can I study Mtech in different branch than Btech?

Hai friend
Yes,you can go for different branch in M.Tech than the branch that what you have studied in your B.Tech degree. But you know that for M.Tech the entrance exams,so you have to prepare for the other subjects that you want to take in M.Tech course. But it will be difficult for you if you take the different branch in M.Tech other than the B.Tech because you will not have a sufficient required knowledge about the branch. So,I suggest you to take the M.Tech course in the same branch in which branch you have studied your B.Tech degree.
Thank You

Re: Can I study Mtech in different branch than Btech?

Hello,
I am an M.Tech myself and as far as I know, the M.Tech branch should be relevant to the B.Tech branch that you are doing. If the M.Tech that you are doing is purely related to the computer science genre, then you must have done either a B.Tech in IT or computer science or relevant subject or you can also go for an initial B.Sc. in any subject and then a corresponding MCA.
If your B.Tech is in pure engineering genre like civil or electrical or others, then M.Tech in the respective genre can only be done. Also for M.Tech in VLSI, B.Tech degree or B.Sc. and subsequent M.Sc. degree in computer science or Electronics will suffice. This rule will go likewise for other B.Tech subjects also.
