can i study mtesh on a different branch that i did not study in btech

No friend your master degree in engineering should be relevant to your B.Tech degree you can't change your stream while stepping towards M.Tech from Btech.
How can you master in a subject in about which you have no certified knowledge.
So choose the branch that is relevant to your degree. There is no other way out.

yes you can do this but you have to prepare and study for the subject you want to opt for the mtech.
as you know there are entrance exams conducted for admission in mtech so you have to prepare for that subject also.

why you want to change the subject ..you can do well in the same subjects of the b.tech ..you will feel easier to do ..and more over its the crucial time of your life so why to waste it...so i feel that you should not change the subjects in post graduation level...

Yeah you can do so but not in etirely different branch, it must be relevant with your B.Tech one.

no friend, you can not change your stream in mtech. Mtech means master in what you studied in btech. You think yourself that how can you become master of something when you don,t know the basics of it. Thats why you can,t change your stream.

i got seat in surathkal (power and energy systems) and also in electronics (vtu ,karnataka ) ,which is the better option

as you belongs to computer field, so you can't change your branch.


but one things you can do.

you can do mtech in VLSI.through VLSI you can chance field of your trade.

VLSI is a very demanding subject in India. so it will be best option for you.

If you are interested in engineering section of automobiles industry then it is somewhat impossible.
However you can be in automobile industry as a manager after MBA.
The other option is to be in designing. You can do diploma courses in designing.

Yes infact why not...!

Infact opting for Robotics after B.Tech at M.Tech level is one of the best decision.

Being a CSE Graduate basically you will find your way in "Artificial Intelligence" means to Design and Program the Memory of Robot.

But the Ground reality is that India is very far behind in this respect, with very less institutes and very less Job oppurtunity.

So, think well before making any decision.

if you are a Electrical and Electronics (EEE) student then yes you have a great chance of choosing from either ECE branch or EE branch....

and you have to fill up separate forms

your Mtech syllabus is related to corresponding Btech.If you change the sub it is very difficult to study and more complicated.so you should study corresponding mtech of BE.

You can't change your department on M.Tech, but can choose a lot of fields related to your stream in B.Tech.

Yes offcourse you can go for other subject but not other brach. If you are study computer science in B.Tech then you can go for some subject of electronics as well as electrical engineering.
But you can't take subjects of civil and mechanical engineering.
So you can take some related subject of your branch.

but i don't understand one thing why u want to do ur Mtech in different branch..

as u r going for master degree , then u should know the subject very well..

so it will be better for u to go for that field in which u have done ur Btech.

it will help u to get a good job in future,and u also get job satisfaction..

when we are doing Btech fron any trade then from 1st sem to 8th sem we are reading approx 40 to 45 papers and these papers are not from one department so you may choose subject from different branch .

Well, dear your Query seems incomplete you haven't mentioned the name of your Institute, without which its not possible to answer your Query.

However, generally there is some relaxations for students belonging to same Institutes, but not necssary also.

I will suggest you to appear for GATE because almost all Institute accept GATE scores for admission into M.Tech

However, in south India I have noticed that students get easy seat in college even without any entrance. In karnataka policy is like this "If you have done B.Tech from there you will surely get seat in any Institute for M.Tech, with or without entrance.

yes it is possible to go for the different subjects in the m.tech if you have different subjects in

the b.tech,there is no any problem in taking this.

but one thing the subjects that you will choose for the m.tech should be in the profile of that

well, dear I think you are little confused

B.Tech 3rd year students are to seat for GATE, but they will not provide admission unless they will completely pass there allm 8 semesters successfully with at least 60% aggregate.

And only for this reason GATE scores are kept valid for 2 years.

Yes, it is true that you can persue your MTech from any field it is independent with the BTech branch, however you must see the college MTech branch eligibility list into which they have mentioned the MTech branch and named the BTech branches those which are eligible.
It is clearly mentioned in GATE brochure that one is eligible to get admission in any branch of engineering for MTech but he/she has to clear the GATE exam in relevant subject.
For example if you did your engineering in Electronics and communication and you want to take admission in MTech Aerospace engineering in MTech then you must have to clear aerospace engineering subject in GATE exam.
After that at the time of counselling your eligibility matters according to the institutes, some institutes may prefer to take in BTech aerospace for MTech in aerospace programme some may not. So it depends seat and your marks in GATE,

It depends from college to college, you can switch to different branch but make sure its the field related to subjects of btech course so that it would be simple for you
otherwise you can definitely choose a alltogether different branch, making a bit difficult for you.

You can change your branch in MTech as options are available for in PG.
In PG main branch is futher divided in its different field, which is common to other field.
