IES stands for Indian Engineering Services Exam.

This Entrance Exam is being conducted only once in a year.

Every year this will be organized by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to recruit the candidates into following Engineering Services
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

Here is the required eligibility criteria for the candidates to give this Exam.

One should have completed Graduation in Engineering with any of the stream from a recognized university.

The candidates who have appeared for final year exams of Engineering course and waiting for the results can also apply for this Exam.

Age criteria :
For General category : 21-30 years of age
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC or ST category.

You did not mention your highest level of academic qualification.

If you have completed Engineering course, then you are eligible to give this Exam.

Have good preparation for this exam from a top coaching institute and crack it.

UPSC has not declared the dates for the 2014 IES Exams

Dates would be declared by end of November 2013

You are eligible to write the UPSC conducted Engineering Services Exams

To apply for this exam you have to wait for UPSC to advertise the positions
Once advertisement is released than you have to apply online from the website http://upsconline.nic.in/


Fees to apply is Rs 200
But for SC/ST/Women candidates fees is zero

BE/BTECH pass candidates of any stream can apply for this exams
No minimum marks is required in BE/BTECH

Age-
Minimum 21 years
Maximum 30 years
OBC gets 3 years and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations


So i would suggest that you should start preparing for this exams right now.

IES is Indian Engineering Service and it is one of the entrance exam conducted by UPSC and it is held every year.

For writing this exam the candidates must have specialized their degree in Engineering/Technology.

for appear in this exam you must have b.tech\b.e. degree in any of these courses-

IES Stands Indian Engineering Service

IES Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission once a year .

IES Exam conducted in the month of May .

The examination has two parts :

Written Examination

Interview

Written Examination :

The written exam covers two parts of 100 marks which is conducted in three days .

Part I consists of objective type questions & part II is of conventional papers

1st Day : General Ability test of 2hrs

Part A : General English 60 questions 100 marks

Part B : 60 questions 100 marks

2nd Day : objective I 2hrs & objective II 2hrs

Objective I : 120 questions & 200 marks

Objective II : 120 questions & 200 marks

3rd Day :

Conventional I : 5 questions have to attempted of 40 marks for each question of total 200 marks

Conventional II : 5 questions have to attempted of 40 marks for each question of total 200 marks

Interview :

Based on written test UPSC will short list students & will call for Interview

Number of students called for interview is about 2.5 to 3 times the vacancy for particular year .

The interview will be of 200 marks .

You must have a degree in the below mentioned stream to be eligible for the exam and to write the exam :-

Electrical Engineering

Not less then 21 and not more then 30 years on Aug 1 on the examination year
Relaxation to those who are from reserved category

UPSC Indian Engineering Services (IES) Examination - Eligibility Conditions

(I) Nationality:
A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to Indian before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued by the Government of India.


(II) Age Limits:
(a) A candidate for this examination must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st August, of the current year
(b) The upper age-limit of 30 years will be relaxable upto 35 years in the case of Government servants of the following categories, if they are employed in a Department/Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below and apply for admission to the examination for all or any of the Service(s)/Posts mentioned in column 2, for which they are otherwise eligible.
(i) A candidate who holds substantively a permanent post in the particular Department/Office concerned. This relaxation will not be admissible to a probationer appointed against a permanent post in the Department/Office during the period of his probation.
(ii) A candidate who has been continuously in a temporary service on a regular basis in the particular Department/Office for at least 3 years on the 1st August, of current year.

The IES Exam is conducted just once a year in the month of June normally.

The Eligibility Criteria for IES Exam are:

1. Candidate should have a graduate degree in any one of the following:
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering

2. The Age of the candidate should be between 21 to 30 years. It is relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates. For SC/ST candidates, it is relaxed by 5 years.

To be eligible to appear for the IES you should be pursuing the engineering degree from the following branches.

IES/ISS examination is conducted by Union public service commission once in every December month of a year.

Through this exam recruitment is made to the following posts..

(i) Indian Economic Service
(ii) Indian Statistical Service

Eligibility : -

- Must be citizen of India or neighboring countries migrated to India before 1st January, 1962.

- Students must not be below 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st January, of examination year.

- upper age relaxation is provided to follows..
Max of 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
3 yrs for OBC candidates
5 yrs if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during 1980 or 1989.
3 yrs in the case of Defence Services personnel.
Maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons.

Education qualification :

for IES :
Candidate must have obtained a Post-graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Busines Economics/Econometric from recognized university.

for ISS :
Candidate must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a University.

- Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards.

No of Attempts :-
- 4 times in case of general .
- 7 times if student belon to OBC
- No limit for SC and ST candidate

friend the upsc ies exam is conducted once a year. it is a 2 tier exam the prelims are held in the month of may and then the selected candidates are called for the interview. both objective and subjective exams are taken at the same time.

IES(indian engineers services)exam is conducted by UPSC. it is for engineering jobs in government.IES exam is conducted every year but it will be conducted only once in a year.
Eligibility for IES exam is to have academic qualification of bachelors degree in engineering from stream of:
Electrical Engineering
Electronics & Communications Engineering
civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.

indian engineering service exam is conducted once in the year.

the graduate students and the students having the age between 21 to 30 years can apply for the ies exam.

IES Exam is conducted by UPSC once a year for slection of engineers for various departments in government.

The Notifications are published in the Employment Newspaper in the month of January.

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Must have engineering degree
2. Age should be in between 21 to 30 Years.

Important Dates -

Notification - 8th January 2011 (Saturday)

(b) The upper age-limit of 30 years will be relaxable upto 35 years in the case of Government servants of the following categories, if they are employed in a Department/Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below and apply for admission to the examination for all or any of the Service(s)/Posts mentioned in column 2, for which they are otherwise eligible.

(i) A candidate who holds substantively a permanent post in the particular Department/Office concerned. This relaxation will not be admissible to a probationer appointed against a permanent post in the Department/Office during the period of his probation.

(ii) A candidate who has been continuously in a temporary service on a regular basis in the particular Department/Office for at least 3 years on the 1st August, of current year.

NOTE—The period of apprenticeship if followed by appointment against a working posts on the Railways may be treated as Railway Service for the purpose of age concession.

(c) The upper age-limit prescribed above will be further relaxable—

(i) Upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe;

(ii) Upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

(iii) Upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.

(iv) Upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Service personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area, and released as a consequence thereof;

(v) Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st August, and have been released (i) on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 1st August, ) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or (ii) on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service or (iii) on invalidment;

(vi) Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Services as on 1st August, and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and they will be released on three months notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.

(vii) Upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons.

N.B.—The candidature of a person who is admitted to the examination under the age concession mentioned in Para 3(II)(b) above shall be cancelled if, after submitting his application he resigns from service or his services are terminated by his department/office either before or after taking the examination. He will, however, continue to be eligible if he is retrenched from the Service or post after submitting his application. A candidate who after submitting his application to the department is transferred to other department/office will be eligible to compete under departmental age concession provided his application has been forwarded by his parent department.

SAVE AS PROVIDED ABOVE THE AGE LIMITS PRESCRIBED CAN IN NO CASE BE RELAXED.

The date of birth accepted by the Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to matriculation or in an extract from a Register of matriculates maintained by a University, which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate. These certificates are required to be submitted along with the detailed applications which will be required to be submitted by the candidates who qualify on the result of the written part of the examination.

No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records and the like will be accepted.

The expression Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate in this part of the instruction includes the alternative certificates mentioned above.

NOTE 1:- CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTE THAT ONLY THE DATE OF BIRTH AS RECORDED IN THE MATRICULATION/SECONDARY EXAMINATION CERTIFICATE OR AN EQUIVALENT CERTIFICATE ON THE DATE OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED BY THE COMMISSION AND NO SUBSEQUENT REQUEST FOR ITS CHANGE WILL BE CONSIDERED OR GRANTED.

NOTE 2:- CANDIDATES SHOULD ALSO NOTE THAT ONCE A DATE OF BIRTH HAS BEEN CLAIMED BY THE THEM AND ENTERED IN THE RECORDS OF THE COMMISSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF ADMISSION TO AN EXAMINATION, NO CHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED SUBSEQUENTLY (OR AT ANY OTHER EXAMINATION OF THE COMMISSION) ON ANY GROUNDS WHATSOEVER.

NOTE 3. CANDIDATES SHOULD EXERCISE DUE CARE WHILE ENTERING THEIR DATE OF BIRTH IN COLUMN 8 OF THE APPLICATION FORM. IF ON VERIFICATION AT ANY SUBSEQUENT STAGE, ANY VARIATION IS FOUND IN THEIR DATE OF BIRTH FROM THE ONE ENTERED IN THEIR MATRICULATION OR EQUIVALENT EXAMINATION CERTIFICATE, DISCIPLINARY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST THEM BY THE COMMISSION UNDER THE RULES.

(III) Minimum Educational Qualification:

For admission to the examination, a candidate must have—

(a) obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or

(b) passed Section A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or

(c) obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or

(d) passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or

(e) passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or

(f) passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959.

Provided that a candidate for the post of Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts and Engineer Group 'A' in Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing/Monitoring Organisation) may possess any of the above qualifications or the qualification mentioned below namely:-

M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.

NOTE-1—A candidate who has appeared at an examination the passing of which would render him educationally qualified for this examination, but has not been informed of the result, may apply for admission to the examination. A candidate who intends to appear at such a qualifying examination may also apply. Such candidates will be admitted to the examination, if otherwise eligible, but their admission would be deemed to be provisional and subject to cancellation, if they do not produce proof of having passed the requisite qualifying examination alongwith the detailed applications which will be required to be submitted by the candidates who qualify on the result of written part of the examination.

NOTE-2—In exceptional cases, the Commission may treat a candidate, who has not any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule, as educationally qualified provided that he has passed examinations conducted by other institutions the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission justifies his admission to the examination.

NOTE-3—A candidate who is otherwise qualified but who has taken a degree from a foreign University which is not recognised by Government, may also apply to the Commission and may be admitted to the examination at the discretion of the Commission.

(iv) Physical standards

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Engineering Services Examination, as per guidelines given in the rules for the Engineering Services Examination

IES exam is conducted only once time in every year by UPSC for government engg. services.

Indian Engineering Service (IES) exam is conducted by UPSC Only one times in a year. This exam is taken in two steps:
1. Preliminary exam.
2. Main exam.

UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2011 Educational Qualifications

For admission to the Indian Service Examination, a candidate must have,

IES Exam 2011 Application Fee :

Candidates applying Online (excepting
SC/ST/Female/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a reduced fee of 50/- (Rupees
Fifty only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit card. (b) Candidates residing in remote areas specified may apply offline also (through Common Application Form) are required to pay a fee of 100.00 (Rupees One hundred only) through a single Central Recruitment

Indian Engineering Service Examination shall be conducted according to the following plan:-

Part I - The written examination will comprise two sections—Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

The standard and syllabi prescribed for these papers are given in Schedule to the Appendix. The details of the written examination i.e. subject, duration and maximum marks allotted to each subject.

Part II - Personality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination
