Dear friend, The student in the 3rd year of their BTech are not eligible to write gate exam.So you can write GATE exam in your final year of BTech or after completion of your BTech. My suggestion is to start your preparation for gate from now onwards,so that you can crack the gate exam. ALL THE BEST |

To apply for GATE examination, you must be in the last year of your pursuing course. Pattern of Question Papers : > Total 65 Questions (ALL Objective Type) > Total Marks : 100 > Each question has ONLY one correct answer. > Sectional cut-off ( Technical / Non-Technical like Engineering mathematics & General Aptitude ) are not applied in GATE exam. Eligibility criteria for GATE Examination: > Candidate should have completed degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture from recognized university. Candidate appearing in the final year exam of such program are also eligible to appear in this exam. OR, > Candidate should have completed Master's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications from recognized university. > Those candidates who are in the final year of such programmes are also eligible for this exam > Candidate appearing in Pre-final year are not eligible to write GATE Exam. > There is no restriction age to appear in thsi eamination. Dear friend, From this year only students from final year or passed out can sit for GATE exam.B.Tech studentd who are in the 3 rd year can not apply for GATE. There are no maximum age limit for GATE,you can apply any time,at any age.The rank card will valid for 2 year. But for now you practice for GATE,read your text books carefully. When you appear in the exam try to score as much as possible,because if you do M.Tech from any general colleges then it will not help you,but doing GATE from reputed college like NITs,IITs will help you grow your career and give you great jobs. All the best. |

Hello, Its good that you are writing GATE exam.You can prepare well for it and give the best that you can.Yes you can write in third year as the criteria is that even a final year and pre-final year can write while you are doing your B.E.Remember GATE certificate are valid for only two years.I have attached 2007 question paper.you can refer it. Hiiiiiiiiii Yes you can apply for GATE EXAM in final year i.e 4th year of Pre-final year that is 3rd year and this is valid for 2 years and again if you are not satisfied with your rank you can reappear for the GATE exam if one is not satisfied with the earlier score. The new score (if better than the old one) will be used for admission. Students have to apply to individual institutes and get application forms after the GATE results are out. M.Tech. course admission details are advertised in leading newspapers from April 1 till July end. However, some institutes do not advertise and students should approach them directly for the forms. The concerned institute may conduct a written test and/or interview for admission. Students of M.Tech. are paid scholarships by the Government of India for the entire 18-month period. so All the best and Prepare well............. |

Re: Can GATE exam be taken in third year of engineering? Hi! Yes, a candidate is eligible for writing GATE paper from 3rd year(5th) of engineering or equivalent. As GATE paper contains the syllabus till fifth semester so you are eligible for writing gate paper. The score card will be valid for two years so if you scored good in this time them you can take admission when you will pass the B.Tech. So prepare well for GATE which will held on 13th feb 2011. What i mean to say is you can write GATE for two times ie., in 3&4years. The best performance of two will be considered for your admission. GATE score is valid for the period of two years, hence in case you get better percentile in third year , you will be eligible to apply in your final year on behalf of this score. Here, I have tried so many times , but i am not able to attach previous GATE papers in this post. I dont know why this problem is occuring.
