For OBC candidates,upper age limit is 35 years with a maximum of 9 attempts. For SC/ST candidates,upper age limit is 37 and the number of attempts is up to the age limit. |

BPSC entrance exam comprises of three sections Preliminary Examination which covers objective type questions, Mains which is subjective type questions and personal interview questions. For eligibility part, aspirant’s age limit should be between 19 to 40 years. Relaxation is also given for SC/ST candidates of 2 years as per the government norms. |

The Age Eligibility Criteria : *A candidate must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination. *The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below: *SC/ST - upto a maximum of 5 years. *Other Backward Classes-upto a maximum of 3 years. *The candidate had been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during the period between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989-upto a maximum of 5 years *Physically challenged - Maximum of 10years. As you have born in 1986,you can write IAS exam. All the best. |

Dear Friend, The Civil Services Exam is commonly known as the IAS Entrance Exam as it provides the opportunity to the candidates to join the Indian Administrative Services. The IAS Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission [UPSC] so all the requisites for the IAS Exam are set by the UPSC. The Requisites for IAS Entrance Exam are : * The candidate must hold a Bachelor`s Degree in any stream from any recognized college/university. * If you are even in final year of graduation , you can also appear for the IAS Entrance Exam. * The Age Limit for the IAS Entrance Exam varies with the Category of candidates. * The Minimum Age Limit For the IAS Exam is 21 years. * The Maximum Age Limit : a) For General Category Candidates is 30 years. b) For OBC Category Candidates is 33 years. c) For SC/ST Category Candidates is 35 years. So , from the above mentioned its quite clear that the maximum age limit for General Candidates for the IAS Entrance Exam is 30 years not 29. Moving towards the Exam , i would like to inform you that the exam is conducted in the following manner : 1) Civil Services Aptitude Test 2) MAINS Examination 3) Personal Interview Test And its mandatory for the candidates to take on all these three examinations and crack these three examinations if dreaming of cracking the IAS Exam. This civil service examination is conducted by the union public service commission (UPSC). The eligibility criteria for the same is as under- 1. Graduation in any stream from a recognize University. The final year graduation student are also eligible to apply for IAS examination. 2. The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of appearing of this examination. The age relaxation is also applicable for the reservation category students. Age Relaxation for the Reservation Category Candidates. SC/ST candidates -5 years on upper age. For OBC candidates -3 years on upper age. For PD candidates - 10 years on upper age. For Ex-service man - 5 years on upper age. That means you can appear upto completed 30 years of age but the day after that will be considered as a 31 year & for that you must be in some reserved category. |

Re: Maximum age limit for IAS entrance exam? Is it 29 or 30? Hi IAS - Indian Administrative Services. Its the most reputated and one of the toughest entrance examinations in India. It basically recruits candidates for the various Administrative services in India. So one has to work really hard to clear this exam. Now the Basic Eligibility Criteria's to sit for the IAS entrance exam are :- 1. You should be an Indian National 2. You should be a minimum graduate in any stream from any background. So stream is no criteria. 3. Your age should be within 21-30 years if you are from GEN, 21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for the SC/ST. 4. GEN candidates are given 4 attempts, OBC's 7 and the SC/ST's are given Unlimited number of attempts. 5. You should be physically and mentally a fit person. So hope this satisfies your query, You have to be within the specified age limit if you want to apply for the IAS exam.
