Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

You're absolutely right that B.Com and Engineering are two different fields with their own unique demands and job opportunities.

It's important to consider your interests, skills, and career goals when choosing between these two degrees.

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce) is a degree that focuses on accounting, finance, business management, and economics.

It prepares students for careers in fields such as finance, banking, accounting, taxation, auditing, and commerce-related roles in companies. B.Com graduates often pursue professional qualifications like Chartered Accountancy (CA), Cost and Management Accountancy (CMA), or Company Secretaryship (CS) to enhance their career prospects and earning potential.

Both B.Com and Engineering have their own advantages and job prospects. B.Com offers a strong foundation in finance and commerce-related fields, and with additional qualifications like CA, CMA, or CS, it can lead to high-paying job opportunities.

On the other hand, Engineering degrees are in high demand due to the growth of industrialization and technological advancements, providing a wide range of career opportunities and higher earning potential in certain industries.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

When it comes to comparing b.com and engineering, it's important to understand that they are two different fields of study.

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce) is an undergraduate degree program that focuses on various aspects of commerce and business. It covers subjects like accounting, finance, economics, marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. B.Com provides a foundation in business principles and prepares students for careers in areas such as finance, banking, sales, marketing, and human resources.

On the other hand, engineering is a field of study that involves the application of scientific and practical knowledge to design, build, and maintain structures, machines, systems, and processes. Engineering programs offer specializations in various branches such as civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, computer science, and aerospace engineering, among others.

The choice between these two fields depends on your personal interests, aptitude, and career goals. If you have a strong inclination towards business, commerce, and related fields, pursuing a B.Com degree would be more suitable. However, if you are interested in designing and building things, problem-solving, and technical aspects, then engineering would be a better fit.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

B.Com. (Bachelor of Commerce) and Engineering are two distinct fields of study with different focuses and career prospects. Here are some points to consider when comparing B.Com. and Engineering:

Field of Study: B.Com. primarily focuses on commerce, accounting, finance, economics, and business-related subjects. It provides a strong foundation in business principles and prepares students for careers in areas such as finance, banking, accounting, taxation, and management. On the other hand, Engineering focuses on technical and scientific principles, with various specializations such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, etc. It equips students with knowledge and skills to design, develop, and innovate in their respective engineering fields.

Curriculum and Subjects: The curriculum in B.Com. includes subjects like financial accounting, business law, economics, taxation, auditing, and business management. In Engineering, the curriculum includes subjects like mathematics, physics, computer programming, circuit design, mechanics, thermodynamics, and specialized subjects related to the chosen engineering field.

Career Opportunities: B.Com. graduates can pursue careers in fields such as accounting, finance, banking, taxation, investment analysis, business consultancy, and management roles in various industries. Engineering graduates have opportunities in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, software development, telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, and research and development. They can work as engineers, technologists, researchers, project managers, or pursue higher studies and research.

Skill Sets: B.Com. graduates develop skills in financial management, accounting principles, business communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. They also acquire knowledge of commerce laws and regulations. Engineering graduates develop technical skills related to their chosen engineering field, along with problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical abilities, and teamwork skills. They often gain hands-on experience through practical projects and laboratory work.

Job Market and Demand: The job market for B.Com. graduates is diverse, with opportunities in both the private and public sectors. The demand for skilled professionals in accounting, finance, and business management remains consistent. Engineering graduates are also in high demand due to technological advancements and the need for skilled engineers in various industries. The demand for engineers may vary based on the specific engineering field and market conditions.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

A lot of comments here claim engineering to be more valuable..Its no longer completely true. I pursued Bcom Honors and the placement packages in my college for commerce students are way higher than engineering students. Times have changed. You can excel in any field provided you have the necessary skills and knowledge.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

Commerce and engineering, both are different fields and both have good scope. If you do your masters after b.com and if you do b.tech after diploma it's the same, both take 6 years. But after b.tech instead of joining m.tech, you can apply for a job so as the same for commerce. After b.tech you can work or pursue m.tech or mba. Going for mba would be better because when you complete it you would have knowledge in both engineering and commerce and this would give you the extra edge above others and more possibility of a better job!

Only B.Com has no value. But B.com with MBA has. Also banking is one of the safest job ever. As long as we we use money banks Oexist same as civil engineering. I think only these two are one of the safest job ever.

Similarly only engineering has no value unless u study in IIT or BITS PILANI or any prestigious college. An MS or MBA is a must to ensure good package or else u will be one among the sheep herded by IT herders.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

I have passed ISC with bio science along with maths and scoring 71 % in aggregate and 78 in MATHS and scoring just 45 marks in JEE ( mains) and was looking forward to do B Tech. But i am getting B Tech from private colleges which do not have such standing in the market.
Now i am thinking to opt for B Com MBA or B Com CA from some repudiated college in my home town instead for simple B Tech from such private colleges away from home.
What should i do for a better future and getting a good job ??

These two fields are not comparable actually. The basic thing is what you have interest in?? Whether its commerce or science.
Of course the job opportunities after doing B.Tech are much better than after doing B.com.

hi,
accoring to my opinion, your first preference should be B.Tech with CS
second shouldbe B.Sc - CS Honours
then B.Com
and for your knd info, MSc,MCA, MBA can be done only after completing degree courses...

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

actually b.com is bachelor degree in commerce.

after b.com you can do m.com i.e. masters in commerce.

and engineering is the professional course.

if you want to be an engineer than you should do b.tech or b.e which is bachelor in engineering and technology.

then after b.tech you can do m.tech or m.e i.e.masters in engineering and technology.
or you can go for companies side by doing masters in business administrator i.e. MBA.

to take admission into b.com,you should do +2 with commerce and to do b.e or b.tech, you should do +2 with PCM (non-medical)subjects.

b.com is graduation after doing +2 with commerce stream and b.tech is also a graduation after doing +2 with non-medical stream.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

it is a very unusual question. both the line are totally different . b.com is commerce line where b.tech is degree in technical field.

both the graduates has different fields of work and scope.

b.com is a general line in commerce after this u can go for CA ,MBA and many more.u can also apply for jobs in banking, commercial industry, railway, insurance and many more.

b.tech will take u to either core or software industry. u can go for higher studies like M.TECH or MBA.

In todays market, its not so much scope for a commerce becholor degree. Its not

enough to get a job in commercial world.

C.A is a good option as compare to b.com for commercial world.

AS compare to B.COM,engineering is a good option.

There is so much scope for an engineer in market and also you have so many

options for engineering to choose your interested branch.

An engineer have so many option to get a job.

Thats the main diffrence between both of them.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

the both streams are the two different banks of a river although top scorers in both carries a remarkable position in their field .you can pursue B.Com if you want to see yourself remarkably in a corporate world.but you need to do MBA after that as B.Com is not a degree it's just your graduation. here success lies in your money minting capabilities.but B.Tech is a complete degree course in itself and it depends on you to pursue M.Tech/MBA or not, but generally students do to get a higher pay scale and position at their work place. here your technical mind pays for you.you need not to be at someone's job and can start your own for which you can easily get a loan from the bank if has the degree from a reputed institute like IIT's,DCE,PEC.

Yes, it possible for you to do B.com...

The minimum educational requirement is:

a pass with 50% in H.S.C. examinations (10 + 2) from a recognized Education Board with Science, Arts or Commerce stream.

But students who have studied Commerce in 10+2 are given preference over others.

So if the no. of students applying is much more and the no. of seats are less, then those who has commerce background with good marks will get the preference.
So I hope that you get seat because you have got 54% which is not very good, so best of luck.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

dear freind
both the course have their own value .one is technical and other one is related to the core commercial nd business world which doesn't need only calculations but analysis on which future predictions can be done as business analyst, risk management analyst, financial analyst ,prtfolio mgmt.do just because they have the commerce & finance base, and if we talk about MBA ,that was mainly for commerce graduates, but now a days everbody is seeking his/her career in doing mba whether he is b.tech or whatever.so saying b.tech is superior is not a justified answer, bcause only b.tech's can't contribute to the economy .need of commerce and finance is required every where, not a single dept . can move without finance.so now it's ur turn to think over it.

Its a good question that you have raised and personally being a commerce student it is something which is to be discussed and thought of.In this modern scenario commerce has widen up so much.It is some thing to be thought of.Well both the courses are very good but logically thinking i feel that b.com would be better. Why i support B.Com is that since it is the universal truth that to earn a prestige in a society what counts the most is "Money".Who ever is having enough money is always given the first preference than that of the person who is not.Every body wish to earn more and more. What i am trying to say is earning sufficient money is the key to success in your life and therefore the fastest ways to earn money is through Business. If you can manage the business properly than you can earn a handsome amount of money while comparing to engineering. For engineers the job is secured and has no worries about the job because it is fixed but they can't earn at one go as compared to business.Yes you can earn your living through engineering but can't do well as compared to Business, therefore i suggest you to opt B.Com.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

Well friend,

Engineering Vs B.Com Ohk.
What do you think Just ask your heart ??. You will definitely say Engineering right !! because it is having great future, more money blah blah.

But you won't think about B.Com why ?? You don't know right !!
Even B.Com has a vast opportunity ahead. You can have charted account Test via CPT exam. You can join accountancy . Even you can do MBA after the B.Com

But see the advantages in Engineering.
First if you score good Aggregate then only you are eligible for any campus placements if and only if your college is having good infrastructure.
You will be placed in final year and more over some college's having 3rd year recruitment procedure too.You will take 4 years to get a success full career.

But in B.com you will complete it in 3 years. You can do masti as well as Study!! to score good marks.Syllabus pattern is very easy as compare to Engineering line.
after your 3rd year only you will get Placements in marketing, accounts etc.

So, above i have generalized you the scenario of Engineering and B.Com.Now its your turn to take part, which option is best for you with respect to Interests.
Because Without Interest you can't survive for longer time in any field.

Good luck.

dear friend,
there is a great difference between b.tech degree and b.com degree. engineers are getting highly paid jobs whereas b.com holders have to get satisfied with less salaried jobs. it is also estimated that b.tech degree is more valuable than b.com begree.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

There is no doubt that Engineering is better than B.com. But it is your own interest which one to join.

If you are interested in technical knowledge and technical courses, then better to join engineering. If you are interested in commerce subjects, then join B.com or BBM so that you can complete MBA next or PGDBM which are having very good job prospects.

As per the course study, if you go through B.Tech, you can complete this course within 4 years. And if you join B.Com it will just take 3 years and later on you have to study 2 more years. So totally 5 years to settle.

With MBA after B.com you can enter into any type of sector, because every company have several departments which should be controlled by good managers where as there is the limited scope after engineering than management students.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

Hello,
It is not that the commerce graduates are good for nothing, there are lots of them in good positions. But to compare Bcom with Engineering will be not fair enough irrespective of the case that today, even getting into engineering too has become somewhat easier.

After B.Com there are less options for getting good opportunities until one goes for higher studies like MBA or M.Com.

But after an Engineering degree there are lots of opportunities available,be it in the private sector or in the government sector. And the package too is high for engineers, afterall its a Professional Course.

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

hi,

Doing a B.com is not bad at all,it has lots of prospects but if you want a fat salary you need to do M.com or other higher studies after your B.com.

So if you are doing engineering you have more chance in the technology and salary.

You cant compare b.com with engineering degree. It has both different perspectives and above all engineering has more advantages.

choose well and do well!!

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering

Hello,

Every degree has its unique knowledge associated with it
Basically B Com and Engineering are two different fields with different type of knowledge
if you are concern about knowledge both are different fields but give same amount of knowledge
and if you are consider about pay or other things definitely Engineering has some more advantage but at the same time i can say B.Com is also very good options.
There is no comparison but its a matter of knowledge and type of field you want to go or you have selected previously.
