Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
Hello friend,
If you want to make yourself count in the present scenario, just a B.Com. degree is not enough. The courses in commerce stream has expanded a lot in the past ten years and as a result the one with the highest level of qualification is only the part of the competition whereas, Engineering on the other hand, hasn't lost the value upto that extent. It's not true that this stream hasn't expanded but the classic engineering fields like mechanical enginering, civil engineering etc. are still in huge demand and will remain ever so. Now as far as B.Com. career prospect is concerned, it opens up numbers of options for students. There are many professional courses offered by professional councils, which promises to provide a great career in the commercial field. Professional courses like CA, CS and management oriented courses like the MBA are in huge demand and have become an integral part of the giant corporate world. |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
Hi
There does'nt seems to be common in B.Com and Engineering which gains the status of B.Com degree as an engineering degree. Both the cources have there equal importance in there respective field. You can'not compare a engineering student with a B.Com student. Now if we come to jobs. then i will tell you that both the fields have great job opportunities in India. |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
dear friend
it is a very unusual question. both the line are totally different . b.com is commerce line where b.tech is degree in technical field. both the graduates has different fields of work and scope. b.com is a general line in commerce after this u can go for CA ,MBA and many more.u can also apply for jobs in banking, commercial industry, railway, insurance and many more. b.tech will take u to either core or software industry. u can go for higher studies like M.TECH or MBA. all the best. |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
Dear friend,
You have raised a very good question my friend..It comes generally in the minds of aspiring students at the stage of 10(+2). More or less both these streams have same importance. Passing out as a Commerce graduate you have plenty of options to pursue higher studies in cost accountancy, finance, banking etc. There are lots of ways you can pursue Master's degree in commerce...you can do M.com, MBA, PG in other commercial courses related to accountancy. This field can offer jobs in managerial posts, financial consultant, jobs in banks, jobs as accountant etc. Whereas, an engineering degree is a practical implementation of daily life improved techniques. After doing B.E/B.Tech one can go for M.Tech or even can switch to commerce sector by studying MBA, as it is a flexible course of study. Talking about status, now-a-days all have come under the same roof, people are choosing the way through which earning is made easy. It does not matter whether you are from engineering background or other than that.. And the option is to simply study some management courses which is also linked to commerce background. So you can see what the general trend is...just forget about status fact and study what you like.. Good luck! |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
Hmm i will speak out frankly. According to me if you do BCom then you must do an MCom or MBA if you want to flourish your career. I dont think its good comparing engineering degree with BCom degree. BCom degree is 3 years while latter is 4 years.
Engg takes through entrance test while most of the BCom colelges take through 12th marks. So according to me you should not worry about other courses if you really like BCom then go for it. If you do your masters or MBA after BCom then you can be well above an engineer. All depends on your hardwork |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
i don't think that b.com has gained equal status of engineering,
in commerce field only if you do charted accountancy then you have some value but if you are doing only b.com then you don't have so much of demand, where as an engineering degree is great demand in India, you have many job options open for you ,if you are having an engineering degree |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
Hello,
You can't compare these two because these two are of different field viz. commercial and technical. So comparing a commercial degree with a technical degree is not appropriate. Whereas, for admission in engineering you must have to qualify in entrance exam either IIT, AIEE, state engineering entrance exam. But you can get admission easily in Bcom on the basis of 12th marks. If you are study MBA or Mcom after Bcom then you are little bit similar to engineering. So please don't compare engineering and Bcom ok. All the best. |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
todays world is a world of competition!
there are hundreds of candidates fighting for a single seat. as far as B.com and engg. is concerned, both have their pros and cons. common to both is that, an MBA degree from a reputated college after graduation can do wonders. engineers have more logical thinking wwhereas B.com students usually deals with accounts and have a bussinessmans mind! |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
B.com degree in its sole existence can never gain status equivalent to a mba degree....If you do post graduation courses in commerce stream such as Mba or do a CA or give venture in acturies or give exams pertaining to CFO's then you can gain status which is far better than doing an engineering alone.....

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
Hello,
Your comparision is like comparing SACHIN TENDULKAR with Shane Warne. Both cricketing GREATS, but in their respective fields. One cant excel in what other does. So coming to your question, B.Com can never gain the status of an engineer. Both degrees are different and important for the economy. It is important to mantain a balance between the 2 so that they remain distinctive. I hope something is clarified. |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
You can join both the course after 12th class. For engineering you have to appear in exams like AIEEE, JEE and others exams conducted by technical universities in different states. Commerace and engineering are two different streams and it depends on your apptitude. If you are interested in Maths then you better choose Engineering otherwise opt for B com. For B Com you can join any university on Merit basis. Jobs prospects in engineering are quite good as its age of mechines and engineers are hot cake. After B Com you can join M Com or MBA to make good careers in Banks and in Public sectors. Also you can join Chartered Accountant course with some CA. You can directly go for CA these days without going for B Com. CAs are big demand and their salaries are also good depending on your caliber and joining. You can also join ICWA and then CA for making better career in commerce. However, it your choice and liking along with your hard work as there there is nothing like shortcut and no substitute for hard work.

both the degrees are like chalk and cheese,
if you do b.com then there is no guarantee of you doing an good job even the demand is very less ,you surely have to do higher studies to grow in your career, where as its not the case with engineering degree you have good offers after it |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
1. B.Com is just a graduation which will not serve the purpose. If you wish to have a good career you can go for M.Com or opt MBA or any other courses like CA/ICWAI.Engineering is a four year course which will give you thousands of opportunities. It cannot be compared with B.Com.But, post graduation after Engineering will give you a promising career.

actually there should not be any comparison between B.Com and engineering.
if you go for b.com then after completion of b.com it is very difficult to get job. but after completion of engineering it is more easy to get job. also b.com is a non technical study and engineering is a technical study. after b.com if you join in any job salary will be less if anyone join in any job after completion of engineering. |

I think that engineering is much better than Bcom but I don't say tthat bcom is worht less. Its not so.
The most important thing to be kept in mind before going further is that what is your field of interest which will motivate you further. So selection among courese which are to be percieved is to be based on field of interest |

B.com is not equivalent to Engeneering. the latter provides bitter job both in private and public sector.
if you a commerce student, then i will suggest you to do cost accountant or chartered accountant along with M.Com. that will provide you good jobs including in BSNL. |

but more preferance is about what you like..... engineering is preffered only when you get good percentage and if you dont hten its a waste so if you realy think you can do hard work then go for it rather do B.Com. with good percentage and get a good salary job........ |

you can make comparisions with salary......
B.tech professionals are preferred by lot of companies and B.com job opportunities are less but if you get jobs in company B.tech professionals should work under you..... salary depends from which institute is that b.tech student is from and your salary increases with experience,....... that all |

Re: B.Com. vs Engineering
Dear friend
do not compare degrees, every degree has its own demand. In account section or audit section of company, a commerce student is required , there engineer can not do any thing.Precisely the same, in industry section ie on shop floor of a company engineer is required. So, both degree has value at its own place. If Bcom student go for CA and when he clear the all paper of CA then he will be highly paid in comparison to an engineer. But friend, i want to tell you one truth that this is the age of industrialization and therefore the job opportunity is more for BTech student. Thank you |
