IAS(Indian administrative service) is one of the prestigious job to do and it has such a great value that every one want to prepare for IAS, among all of them some of them can reach the goal who will have the strong determinations , who can do hard work, planning etc..
as we know that there is change in the syllabus introduced by the CSAT 2011,
the IAS exam will be consists of
  • prelims,
  • mains,
  • and finally interview stage ,
you have to clear the IAS prelims to claim the mains and than interview session,
education eligibility,
you can have graduate in any discipline from a university recognized by the university grants commission (UGC).
if you are in the final year of your graduation than you can fill the main exam form.
and you must be the citizen of india.
age limit
you must be minimum 21 years of age maximum is 30 years ,
if you are belong to OBC category than you can have 21 to 33 years of age.
for sc/st 21 to 35 years .
you can attempt 4 times if you are belong to general category and 7 attempts for OBC and sc/st there is no limit for the exam,
the notifications for the civil services prelims will be appear in employment news and on UPSC's website on 04-02-2012.
the exam is going to be held on 20-05-2012.
prelims,
  • the IAS prelims consists of objective and consists of two compulsory papers to all of them .
  • the negative marks for each question is 0.33 marks,
  • each paper consists of 200 marks,
  • the duration of the time is 2 hours,
syllabus for the prelims
paper-1
current events of national and international importance,
history of india and national movement,
Indian and world geography-physical ,social,economic geography of india
an the world,
Indian polity and governance constitution , political system , panchayati raj ,public policy, rights issues ,etc..
economic and social development sustainable development ,poverty, inclusion, demographics,social sector initiatives etc..
general issues on environmental ecology, bio -diversity and climate change that do not require subject specialization,
general science ,
paper-2
comprehension,
interpersonal skills including communication skills,
logical reasoning and analyticall ability,
decisions making and problem solving,
general mental ability,
basic numeracy ,data interpretation,
English language comprehension skills,
question relating to English language comprehension skills of class 10 level which will be tested through the passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation there of in the question paper.
the main exam syllabus consists of
general studies
2 optional papers,
some of the optional subjects you have to face in the mains are
  • agriculture,
  • animal husbandry,
  • botany,
  • chemistry,
  • civil engineering,
  • commerce and economics,electrical engineering,
  • geography,
  • geology,
  • history,
  • law,
  • management,
  • mathematics,
  • physics,
  • political science,
  • psychology ,
  • sociology,
  • statistics,
  • zoology,
  • medical science,etc...
  • psychology,
  • public administration,
  • anthropology,
  • Arabic,
  • Assamese,
  • Bengali,
  • bodo,
  • Chinese,

  • and other languages in india.
you have to be prepared for the interview that consists of 300 marks .
the interview conducted on the basis of main exam . so you have to prepare well for the exam.

IAS is an exam conducted through CSE by UPSC.

Required Qualification to appear for Civil Services Exam

-You should have passed Graduation degree in any specialization from recognized Institute.
-You are for civil service exam while in graduation final year.
-UPSC Civil service exam has no restriction on graduation percentage.
-Your Age should be within the limit of 21 to 23 years.
-You must be a citizen of India.

Important dates:
Last date for online Application: 5th March 2012 till 11.59 pm
Date of Commencement Exam: 20.05.2012 (SUNDAY)

Civil Service Examination has three stages

1st Stage: Preliminary Exam

2nd Stage: Main Examination

3rd(Final Stage): Interview

preparation for IAS

first you know the
criteria:-

dear friend,

you are from civil departments and also you are from 3 rd sem .after completion of graduation you are eligible for IAS exam.

After completing your Bacholar Degree, you are eligible for IAS exams.

So, Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognised by the Government are eligible for appear in IAS exams.

Age limits -

21-30 years as on (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories.

Attempts -

The general Candidates get 4 attempts And 7 attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs Candidates in this exams.

Number of Exams -

Preliminary Examination - It is of objective type, which is a qualifying examination.

Main Examination - It consists of written examination and interview.

What steps i should take for preparing ias as i don't know about how to take 1st step for prep. As i am 3rd sem btech civil student?
