Re: My eyesight is 6/12, can i join any course of merchant navy? YES, you can join merchant navy. But you are eligible to do only MARINE ENGINEERING course not the NAUTICAL SCIENCE course. Because nautical science required a perfect eyesight 6/6. And for marine engineering use of corrective lenses for eyesight is permitted but the maximum permissible limits at entry are 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in other eye for distant unaided vision. But Color blindness is not permitted. you can join government institute like:- >>Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata. >>Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai. |

no u cant join because they want people with perfect vision..6/6 u might try if u want to but in the physical fitness test..they will rule u out.. but if u are above 20 yrs or above..then u can do LASIK eye surgery to restore ur vision..but that should be done only with the advice of ur parents and doctor.. hope this helps..

Re: My eyesight is 6/12, can i join any course of merchant navy? I am BTECh(IT).My eyesight is -4.5. Can't i apply for SAIL,ONGC,ECIL or other government job even if it get corrected by laser? I read in their criteria that eye sight should be - 4 by max. |

Re: My eyesight is 6/12, can i join any course of merchant navy? If you want to go in B.tech or GME than there is no problem and your number should be between -, 2.5 not more than that........but if you want to go for DNS you will not be qualified......6\12 is enough for B.Tech and GME |
